I just finished my '76 R & R, and the frame has a gusset welded to it. I haven't seen one on the Museum that has this.
I just saw a pic of Haney's and his has it.
Was this some factory thing? Is this rare?

Never seen the light blue decal. Not a Centurion or a CR-1?

See pics below I want to list it here, but need to know the year. I'm thinking '76.

If it's a factory gussett that is one of the chromoly ones. Should weigh around 4 pounds. Pretty rare, the rest you see floating around are mild steel tanks.

I LOVE this bike. Someday I will own one. A few of the dudes I rode with way back when had those, none with a gusset as far as I can remember.

I have had several of these frames over the years, all broken and re-welded (and tossed sad to say). The full chromoly version has a cigarette box shaped metal tube at the seat clamp area. The mild steel version has the flat plate like the one you have here and also the one I own.

The one you're talking about with the cigarette box holding the seatpost mast is actually an R&R Superlight all 4130.... the R&R CM-1 is also all 4130 but has the flat plate....tim1218 the one you have looks to be the CR-1 Rigid frame all 1010 mild steel and yes the gussets is a factory thing as seen below.... either way they're cool to have.

My first race bike in 77 was a full chromoly with the box gusset at seat post,super light bike and was fast,mine did crack at the seat post clamp area and my friends dad welded it,mine was candy blue over chrome.I do remember some like yours with the front gusset.

Had a chromoly one too. Down tube cracked at the head tube. That frame was super light!
