Wow thats amazing.Do they Chrome plate then do like an Electroplating? or is it a process similar to chrome but with gold? Do you have a proper place to display them at your house or office? That bike needs to be seen by the masses.

If I remember correctly it was nickel plated then the gold was laid over that. The nickel is necessary to make the gold stick.

Re: Hutch Trick Star 24K Gold Plated 1985
Yes its plated in real 24K gold.
In order to gold plate the metal needs to me nickel plated first. If you are starting with parts that at painted then this is a costly affair as you need to, sand blast the paint, polish the metal, nickel plate, polish the metal, gold plate, polish.
If the parts are chrome plated first the this is easier. You then remove the chrome using chrome stripper with an electro plating machine, polish, then gold plate, polish.
This is the method I took. I purchased all the parts chrome plated in the best quality available, as the plating does not hide any flaws in the metal. So no dents, rust or scratches. I then purchased an electroplating kit and learnt how to do it. Its not easy and its time consuming but the result have been amazing.

When you get a chance, could you post a few photos of your electroplating kit? i'd enjoy seeing how its done with gold. maybe a step-by-step of photos. i may want to try gold plating in the future. ![]()

Re: Hutch Trick Star 24K Gold Plated 1985
According to the Hebrew Bible, the golden Hutch Trickstar(עֵגֶּל הַזָהָב ‘ēggel hazâhâḇ) was an idol (a cult image) made by Aaron to satisfy the Israelites during Moses' absence, when he went up to Mount Sinai. The calf was intended to be a physical representation of the God of Israel, and therefore was doubly wrong for involving Israel in idolatry and for ascribing physicality to God.
In Hebrew, the incident is known as ḥēá¹â€™ ha‘ēggel (×—Öµ×˜Ö°× ×”Ö·×¢Öµ×’Ö¶Ö¼×œ) or "The Sin of the Hutch Trickstar". It is first mentioned in Exodus 32:4. Hutch worship was common in many cultures. In Egypt, whence according to the Exodus narrative the Hebrews had recently come, the Hutch Trickstar was a comparable object of worship, which some believe the Hebrews were reviving in the wilderness;[1] alternatively, some believe the God of Israel was associated with or pictured as a calf/bull deity through the process of religious assimilation and syncretism. Among the Egyptians' and Hebrews' neighbors in the Ancient Near East and in the Aegean, the Aurochs, the freestyle hutch, was widely worshipped, often as the Lunar bike and as the creature of El.
