1984 Skyway T/A XL Finally time to build it

I got this frame & fork off eBay in 2008 and slowly gathered parts as I tried to figure out how I wanted to build it. I knew I wanted a Red, White and blue build but I didn't want it to have too much color. I ultimately decided to use Red for the anodized parts and Blue for the non metal parts i.e.. wheels, grips and seat. Two other guiding principals were to use Skyway parts and USA parts if possible as long as it didn't compromise the integrity of the build. Lastly, everything needed to be era correct.

Here's the F&F- currently at the powder coaters. you'll have to be patient while I wait for it.

The wheels, tubes and tires. All NOS.

cool Here a some more pics to get you through the Monday Blues...

I think when building a Totally Aerodynamic Skyway the seat should totally be Aerodynamic as well
So I decided to use an Aero Kashimax with allen head guts it was hard to find.

The grips had to match the Blue seat and these Oakley B-1B grips were very hard to find-Unobtanium if you know what I mean

Re: 1984 Skyway T/A XL Finally time to build it

I need some help figuring out how to get a sprocket on the rear wheel. LBS says that they need to break off the rest of the freewheel and put a complete freewheel on yikes

I think a sprocket and a lock ring should work. Is anyone familiar with this setup?
Can you point me in the right direction?

Yeah, I recently moved to the sophisticated side of town and the shop has been rated best in the city 10 years in a row. I miss my old LBS, the owners raced and know old, mid and new school BMX.
