Re: So...Dyno has made a comeback in the USA
As far as GT is concerned, I won't have much of an opinion of them s long as the are owned by Dynacrap, Pacific, or whatever Walmart vendor ownes them.
My youngest races a 2011 GT micro mini. Not a bad bike for the $125 I spent on it secondhand. It's OK at best, looks bad ass, but loaded with ultra cheap parts, half of which needed replacement before it even hit the race track. WAY below offerings from similars - Redline, Free Agent, or Intense. Some of the parts on the GT were borderline unsafe.
NEED DECALS FOR A HARO MONOCOQUE!!!
Need a orange, first year Bontrager Warthog!!

Re: So...Dyno has made a comeback in the USA
obviously it a low end entry level bike thats not designed for serious riding. its designed for a young kid who has a father that thought dyno was a good bike way back when. the funny part is, dyno only made a couple descent bikes way back when. they were always entry level bike for the most part.
in search of Revenge Industries da'kine grips. specifically white, brown, orange, purple. i'll even consider black and both greens. pm me if you have some for sale.

Re: So...Dyno has made a comeback in the USA
dont get me wrong, they made a few descent models over the years. the D-30 frames seemed well built. the USA made Slammer kits were spec'ed pretty nice actually! i'll be 40 sooner than later so i have seen what they have done over the years. all of the specs are available, some are even on this site. all i was saying was, with all years and models combined, the really high quality stuff is far out weighed by their entry level bikes.

You are correct, to a point. The mid 90s was hit and miss, Im still shocked by frames that show up from then as being all 4130. The best selling D-Tour from 87 to 91-ish still far outweight the walgoose crap of today, at least that frame had 4130 main tubes, you dont find that hardly at all now. Im the same age as you, we have nearly the same perspective, theres a ton of early 90s Compe looking models that were/are still amazing frames.
This Dyno "Vertigo" I posted, look at the gyro, stamped outta tuna cans. Sad. (to your point)

eh. don't look that bad. good bike for someone that wants to take a stroll with the kids. slap some 3pc might be worth a little something. can't be any worse than the bikes from kmart with the motorcycle platic everywhere
1 - why would you bother with puttin 3 pc cranks on this?
2 - that is exactly the point - its a department store bike.
sometimes any parts upgrade can make any bike look and possibly ride better. times are hard. we all can't have garages full of old mid and new school bikes. I bought a bike I could afford it ain't no big name brand. but it works good. and little by little upgrading the not so good parts with a little better parts has helped improve the ride
currently building my 96 haro group 1 ci 24.

Re: So...Dyno has made a comeback in the USA
that's hardly a comeback for dyno, a dyno vertigo what the h? last I checked gts were the vertigos, there's plenty of entry level dyno names that could have been used: compe, detour, air, zone.

I have a modern "Dyno", late 2000's. They're owned by Pacific Cycle now. Garbage, all of it. Walgoose to the very core. My "Dyno Divine" is also a "Mongoose Outer Limit". 100% hi-ten, weighs 38 pounds, headset is wobbly and can't be properly dialed. Comes with a detangler and everything for that "freestyle look".
I use it as weight training for bunnyhops.

Re: So...Dyno has made a comeback in the USA
One of my neighbors kids had a new Dyno. He passed by my place to ask me what he should do. It is so cheap the pedal had fallen off and someone had welded the pedal on. (well the shaft) Basicaly I told him him it would have been to have left it wherever he had found it. He ended up just saying take it for parts. The frame is so poorly constructed and the welds look like jb weld gooped over the tubes. And no stamps even. Meh not a dyno fan but I did like my Dyno Detour bitd. After taking these pictures...I do believe it dies today.

Re: So...Dyno has made a comeback in the USA
thats the dyno train-wreck
its very rare and hard to come by. it was made for the last 20 years and labled everything ya can think of. this makes it difficult to find. so now they are going to lable it vetigo and hide it in wall mart.
and entry level does not mean department store.
entry level means an actual real name brand bike with lower end components that can hold up on the track for the begginer.
i think entry level is the new (nos) term for - i have a pos bike wanna buy it?
rc
I sell used parts! If you are looking for nos or dead mint parts, dont buy from me. If you are looking for used, usable parts. Im the guy ya want to buy from.

I have seen these as well, Walmart level garbage with resused names from the days when GT/Dyno meant something... If I had tons of money for some reason I would do the same as alot of you. Tell Pacific to shove it and bring the good stuff back ![]()

Re: So...Dyno has made a comeback in the USA
Shameful what they are doing. Serious riders end up building a bike from scratch as most completes just miss the mark. Most brands have the entry lvl junk including Redline, but this is really crap! A dad who goes and buys that may look no further and decide the sport is dead.
