Re: Bikes & Strikes III Bicycle Show & Swap Murfreesboro, TN Sept. 15th
I've been on the prowl for a while and when 2 complete sets just came up, timing was killing me. When the other came up, I contacted him and moved on it. Now I'll have too many to try to bring so I'll need a new plan to try to transport more compact to fit everything. Luckily this show is relatively close to where I live.

I think I'm going to keep mine top secret until the show if I get it finished in time. I'm ready to hear what the classes are and if there will be a freestyle comp. James, wanna take a crack at reproducing some frame decals for me?

+1 for the freestyle comp. Is the obstacle course part of the freestyle comp and if it is do you have to use the course? How is best in show decided?

Re: Bikes & Strikes III Bicycle Show & Swap Murfreesboro, TN Sept. 15th
I have Shingles right now, but hope to not have them by the time the show is here. This is putting me behind schedule on my GT and George Jr projects. Hard to even look at the bikes dealing with the irritation and pain. I have no plan for what I am going to do with these bikes, but plan to have at least one ready. I want to hear more about the ramps and other obstacles. Will the obstacles be out the whole show? Meds are licking in and thoughts are jumbling, so I am shutting down.

In the past, they've gotten there at least by 7am, but I'd say more like 8am is a good time.

Re: Bikes & Strikes III Bicycle Show & Swap Murfreesboro, TN Sept. 15th
Question about survivors.
What constitutes a survivor? IS a bike that is built today using survivor parts considered a survivor? Or is this strictly bikes that are completes from whatever year that they are from?

Re: Bikes & Strikes III Bicycle Show & Swap Murfreesboro, TN Sept. 15th
Usually the last sentence is true. Almost never means exact catalog build either, even though it can never happen.
It also means tires/chains from those years as well, even if tires will not inflate & chain is rusty.

Re: Bikes & Strikes III Bicycle Show & Swap Murfreesboro, TN Sept. 15th
Some shows allow tires, tubes, brake pads, brake cables, and/or grips to have been replaced with era correct parts. The wear and tear parts in other words. Other shows want it to be 100% original, but hard to prove depending on how clean the bike is.

for us it really depends on the rarity of the Survivor. You pull up with a super clean JMC with original dry-rotted tires we would like that better than you coming in with some fresh Duro tires. However, we do allow newer tires, cable, pads, etc. on Survivor builds(extra points with the judges if they are era correct..

Another bumpin day
I'm getting ready for this one. Hopefully largest display from me at a show yet. Albeit if I can get a trailer to get the stuff up there.

Re: Bikes & Strikes III Bicycle Show & Swap Murfreesboro, TN Sept. 15th
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I doubt I will have anything new. I killed my old mower and had to buy a new one, so current projects are all on hold. I may be able to throw the Hoffman George Jr. together since it is not going to be restored, just cleaned up and assembled with a mix of N.O.S. and used era correct parts. My GT and any other bike I have recently or will purchase are all going to collect dust unless I decide to start selling parts.![]()

That's what I've been trying to do is sell off parts, but dang it's for another project which is top secret until the big reveal at the show. ![]()
Buy a push mower, $150 at the most. Of course I've got 5.5 acres where I live, ridin mower all the way!!!!

Re: Bikes & Strikes III Bicycle Show & Swap Murfreesboro, TN Sept. 15th
No push mowing the many acres I have to cut at my weekend landscaping job. Heck, half is mowed and the half behind the plant I use the tractor to bush hog. I should have said one of my two mowers died and was replaced.
As far as bikes, I have lost the desire to try and throw an impressive bike together. I have been riding more and more often. That means my nice new school bikes show too much wear or too dirty to waste the time cleaning for a show. My mid school bikes and my 16" Predator look/show the best, so I plan to bring three to show, one to ride or four to show and one to ride unless something big happens.
