Re: Talk Dyno to me!

This is my OG 86' Dyno Compe. It was stolen from me shortly after I got it and I recovered it a few years later, spraybombed & stripped. I entered it in the Dyno buildoff...

Looked like this last Friday...

Here's my latest project. Taking an 87' and going to put 86' Compe II decals on it. Yeah, I normally wouldn't do that but I am making this my summer rider and Greg was too stingy and wouldn't sell me his chrome 86' frame! - lol
Used an ACS rotor I had laying around forever. I can't believe how well that works. Had frame and fork powdered Sunrise red. Yeah, not an original color, I know. Also, putting a top tube pad on it as well. I have white GT tires, but am waiting on a pair of Odyssey G's from Dan's compe. Figure they'll work better for rolling tricks!

thats gonna be awesome. so its going to look simular to the one in the magazine pic?

Thanks! It'll be similar. But I pride my Green 86' as looking the closest. Just add the pad and I'm there. - lol

How can you tell the difference between a Pro Compe and a Pro Compe team? Decals? Stamping? Etc......

The 88 was different.

A 88 Pro Compe TEAM model has holes through the downtube, like the GT's of that time period. Because the pro compes came with spin tech stems, but pro riders (aka team model bikes) they wanted the GT mallet stem and a gyro instead.

A true Team model is extremely rare...

Here is a pic of my old one. (I didn't use the hole in the downtube as it kinked your brake cables).

I'm confused by this statement. I know the 87 PC came with Spin Tech and had the double cable stop on the underside of the downtube for the 2:1 Spin Tech cable.
You say the 88 PC Team came with Spin Tech and thus had holes in the downtube like GT's for cable routing? How would this be indicative of a Spin Tech?
I only ask cuz I've never seen an original 88 with a Spin Tech

Re: Talk Dyno to me!

I didnt know that about the downtubes on PC Teams, interesting.

As far as I know, 88 PC's had mallets and 89's had the new Gt stems, SpinTechs were an 87 issued stem.

Re: Talk Dyno to me!

ok i got my 88 dyno detour today. im pleased with the looks of it. has some character marks but hey its an 88. all i need is some cables, upper and lower and a front cable. the front cable was toast so i took it off. i put the wheels and the pedals on there. im amazed at how nice the decals are. they are not that beat up. what do you guys think. hey ooz i turned the seat guts around.
