Cleaning the Scores, 82 CW ZS Expert, Rare Dbl Brake Bridge Vector

Scored both of these in a weeks time for mere dollars. Was gonna flip them as I have too many projects, but it's hard to let go of these rare birds, so I decided to start on them over the weekend. My goal is to just simply clean the parts they came with. I will update pics as they come along. I expect to have them completed within the next couple of weeks, since I don't have to do much parts sourcing.

The CW

The night I found it.

After an OA bath, and some T.Wax chrome polish.

After cleaning it's parts, and adding a few pieces from the stock

The Vector

All in all, this is in nice condition. I did find a tiny key hole crack, but it is no big deal to me on a piece like this. Since it physically resembles all the "Mark" series Vectors, aside from the extra bridge, I considered having custom "? Mark" decals made. lol

Day of find

These I scored in the same lot as the CW, and it's obvious where they are going. The bolt and wedge were actually corroded to the bars, and took some effort to get it to loose. At first, I though it had been cross threaded.

This is my first CW! Always loved them, but never had an opportunity to own one. To find a Vector is too cool, but to find Vector bars the following week. well it was fate. cool

cool Thank! I use the typical deck cleaner, and just let it sit. I use a 000 steel wool, and very lightly rub where the toothbrush can't get to, and then I use Turtle Wax chrome polish. I always notice a major difference after the first pass of the steel wool. I think it's the polish IMO. All the ones I have done have turned out the same way, and I use all the same chemicals, and process.

I use the deck cleaner and steel wool as well, I'm going to have to try the polish, thanks.

One of the "NC Rider" members suggested I use a dual brake on the Vector. big_smile I like that idea, thanks Mark!

9-1 (gals) ratio. It works quicker in a smaller concentration, but who needs quick. lol I use a 10 gallon waste basket, and it's just tall enough to get over half of the frame in at once. I let it sit for a good 2hrs before I ever begin to wipe it down. I think it all goes to the polish though. I use a soft terry cloth rag, and hand polish. I use a longer one to do a back, and forth high speed buff while holding the part between my knees. I have tons of hours polishing my military brass, so I am very seasoned.

Thanks for the advice, i took it out and rubbed it with 0000 steel wool. No toothbrush action yet. Only one side of the frame was submerged.

MX-1000s up top and 901s down low to keep out of the way and cables down both sides of the bike.
