Before my head explodes, please, with a cherry on top, post the &%$# price of your "scores". That way we'll be able to get a consensus of the fair market value of certain items so none of us get fleeced.

Scores aren't fair market value. That would defeat the "score". A score is what you paid for it, fair market value is what you can get for it on the flip. I paid $700 for a complete 86 haro master that I still consider my best score, but I know people have scored them for less than $200. Market value is still a lot more than that.

There seems to be a very wide gap in what people see as scores vs 'purchases' LOL

Lets face it, we, as a community, will never see eye to eye as far as what constitutes a score and what constitutes a purchase.

Some will see the very opportunity to buy something AT ANY PRICE a 'score'

Some will see a score as a smokin deal on anything worthwhile.

Too much emphasis is being put on 'worth' when buying items these days, thus the 'score' factor.

well, they dont like to put what they paid for 2 reasons.

a) they paid to much and dont want any flack from members cause it wasnt a score at all.....they just want to brag and show off.

b) they got it for a song and plan on selling it and dont have the nuts to tell people they aint getting it for 10 bux more when they are asking market value....exsample, 85 haro master decked out with group1 cranks for 45 bux off cl. and now they part it and want 650 for the crank, not to mention the rest of the bike.

members tend to wanna start crap over it cause the seller got it for nothing and now wants to be paid.

as for me personaly, i dont care. i will tell ya what i paid for it, it still aint getting sold unless i get around what im asking for it. but thats me and i have always been this way. people that have done deals with me know i treat em fairly, ship fast , and easy to work with. but i only give stuff away when i choose to and to who i choose to.

sometimes if ya ask em in pm they will tell ya what they paid for it. but trust me, if ya use the info to start crap with, you will never know what anyone pays for anything again. lmao!

I always say what I paid. Who cares what people think.... these are just bike parts. Life is too short to dwell on stupid little things.

So based on your infinite wisdom and logic, If I was to score a 1985 Redline RL-20a for $15.00 you would infer that $15.00 would be fair market value for that bike and if someone was to pay $25.00 for that same bike they wouldbe getting "fleeced". A lot of the time a score is a score based solely on the ridiculousness of the price i.e. it's is nowhere near fair market value, well below it to be exact. The theory as you have posted it would actually result in the exact opposite result than the one you are hoping for...

To find fair market value you are much better looking in the "sold" section here or past ebay auctions.

I don't have any issue posting what I paid for something. Most of what I buy is new stock so most of the time it's FRV (fair retail value). Maybe a better solution would be to have a FMV list somewhere. Of course the minute that it's published it's out of date.

A couple weeks ago i found what i consider a "score" on CL. Only thing was it was in a town 2 hours away from me. When I told the gf, she decided we should make a weekend of it. After the dust settled the price of the bike, the hotel, dinner, and gas made it a very expensive "score."
