Started building the bike back up today. All was going well until I fitted the bashguard ![]()
Looks like Im going to have to get some adapters made as finding the other mounting bracket is highly unlikely.

Re: 1994 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Restoration (pic heavy!)
A little more progress on the build. Managed to pick up a sealed bearing front hub pretty cheap but an still searching for a rear.
I also managed to get a lay back post and the correct double bolt seat clamp thanks to some Rad Members :daumenhoch:
I also got this chunk of alloy that Im going to use to machine a spacer for my bash guard.

Decided to give the frame a final polish today and then get it stickerd up. So please with how it looks now that all the decals are on ![]()
(Ignore the wheels. They are for my Bennett build and I was only using them as the GT wheels are stripped down while I look for a back hub).

Re: 1994 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Restoration (pic heavy!)
Thanks guys. Yea I wanted them more neon but the printer didnt have the neon inks
Im not sure what type of machine he uses but I dont think its screen printing. He seems to use some kind of digi printer that uses spot colours instead of CMYK. The good thing is that he can put a white base down first as most digi printers cant, but because he uses spots he only has a few colours to choose from. If it is screen printing then Im really impressed with him going to all that effort for a one off set of decals.

Re: 1994 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Restoration (pic heavy!)
Thanks for the kind words folks :daumenhoch:
Few updates on the build...
After some wheeling and dealing I managed to get a 2nd bash guard that had the correct size clamp on it thanks to Lucas. I mixed and matched the best bits fro the 2 bash guards and built up a really nice one to go on the bike. Here is a pic of it fitted with the correct size clamp.
After doing a lot of work to save the chrome on the bars I finally decided to take the plunge and send them off to get re-chromed. Im not a big fan of ground up restored bikes, and personally like to build "tidy examples" as opposed to "show bikes". As such Ive never felt the need to get anything re chromed but as the pitting on the bars was so bad that the finish was flaking off I felt it was time to get it done. I sent them off to RS chromers and they did an amazing job. They did loads of prep work to remove the pitting and even smoothed off the scratches you often find on the bends of bars that have been ridden. The bars arrived back looking brand new. ![]()

I fitted the bars and right away couldnt help sliding on a set of NOS ATI GT logo grips just to get a feel of them
Ive also put the levers on but need to get the wheel situation sorted before I can go ahead and set the brakes up.
Thats it for now. Still hunting for hubs so I can get this bike finished up.
Hopefully some turn up soon.

Re: 1994 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Restoration (pic heavy!)
Wow that is amazing!! The early nineties bikes deserve a lot more attention. These bikes are so rare, because there were so few riders around. My PFT is a 93, but the 94 was the best 1 inch headtube bike ever. It had those beefy dropouts. Awesome!

Hey midschooljon, check out this video. Youll see your bike in several scenes with dudes tearing it up. If you pay attention, theres a beatup white Dyno Pro Compe (looks like an 88) being used in there too. This is from 94.

In the early 90s, GT started having the components made overseas and assembled here in the US, hence "Built in the USA".

Hmm I know the 93 pft has the made in usa decal. I thought if the frame was made overseas it would have the Built in the USA decal. I doubt the 94 pft frame was made overseas

The 94's had "Built in the USA" due to legal reasons. The Frames were still USA made but due to some of the parts being overseas they were forced to use "Built" as "Made" implied the entire bike was made in the USA. ![]()

Re: 1994 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Restoration (pic heavy!)
Small update on this build. Managed to get all the brake "plumbing" installed and ready to dial in. I havent made any final adjustments as its still sitting on my Bennett wheels, but all the hard work is done as far as brake setup goes. When I get my hands on the mythical hubs it shouldnt take me long to get it all finished up now.

Here is a quick shot of how the bike is sitting now. Its really coming together now. ![]()
