1985 Dyno D-30

Old School Meets New School In This Dyno Spin-Tech Hybrid

When my son Alexander came of age a few years ago it was time for me to strap on the ole shin guards and give flatland another go. Therefore, I decided that I would make an old school rider with new school parts. So I created this hybrid. I took the old D-30 frame and added Xposure 990 brakes, Wellgo Pedals, &  Moto 3D Skull Grips and combined them with my favorite old school parts (Dyno Pretzel Bars, Drain-Pipe. & Skyway Tuff II's ... But most importantly the Dyno Spin-Tech). I restored an old Spin-Tech to a beautiful Bright Green. I also found an old Mongoose Sakae Spin Tech Gyro Unit that has the open slit sides. Therefore, I combined the Dyno Spin-Tech top half, with a Gyro Bottom half, using the Odyssey Gyro bottom cable guide and a bright green "Blank" lower gyro cable. In order to get the cable to work I had to use a small drememel saw and carefully peel away about 1" of the cable housing on each cable leading up to the lower cable guide. Talk about needing a steady hand. The result? The back brakes work great! All the pieces to this build fell together perfectly. I chose flat black as the main color so it woud be easy to touch up. But Powder Plus in Carlisle PA made it more beautiful than I could have imagined.

Last, but not least, are the decals. I commissioned Dynocrazy to give me custom Dyno D-30 decals in lime green with white outlines. The results are awesome!

* Blank Lower Gyro Cable
* Dyno Drain-pipe
* Dyno Dig-Its Pegs
* Dyno Pretzel Bars
* Dyno Spin-Tech
* KMC Chain
* Lucky Stone White Wall Tires
* Moto 3D Skull Grips
* Odyssey Lower Gyro Cable Stop
* Skyway Brake Pads
* Skyway Tuff II's
* Trick Top Seat
* Wellgo 9/16" Pedals
* Xposure Brakes & Levers

Honorable mention: This bike placed 2nd place in the "Summer of 2012 80's Dyno Build Off", Restomod Division. Thanks to all involved in the build off!

Re: 1985 Dyno D-30

Thank god there are some people who build bikes with a personal touch as riders, instead of factory blah, blah, blah, with friggin price tags still attached and the same old " purist " ( whatever the hell that means ) garbage. Its so cool to see custom bikes with a seat that will actually see a set of balls on them instead sitting in a corner scaring the hell out of the owner that it may get scratched from use:) You killed this bike, killer build and very classy, you truely owned this bike sir............Stoner71

Re: 1985 Dyno D-30

wow where you pick up the green lower and upper cable?

Upper is just a short Sinz regular cable, and the bottom is a "Blank" brand gyro cable. Both bought off eBay.

Re: 1985 Dyno D-30

I love LOVE this bike! Everything about it! The work, the epic-ness of it. Seriously, I have dreams of riding this since the day I saw it. I even have it as the backround on the computer. Man. If you EVER are interested in selling, I would just about pay anything for it.

Ever since I was little, I wanted a dyno, SO BAD. But being as poor as we were, it was never going to happen. BUT, now that I'm older and making money, I so want one. This sir, is awesome. Great job on this. And I looked at your other bikes, they are just as awesome! smile

Appreciate it guys. Sorry, don't plan on selling it. And if I did it would be one of the last ones of my collection. Better luck building one similar! I'd love to see another member do so. Go for it! - lol  smile
