Whitening yellowed hard plastic (ABS?) pedals
Before I tried it on my nicer ones on my 88 Pro Compe, I got an extra set of these HTI-851 pedals from Caleb to try the "hydrogen peroxide in the sun" soak that I found (of all places) on a computer geek website. The geeks were trying to whiten an old plastic PC tower and one recommended soaking it in hydrogen peroxide and leaving it out in the sun. Well, being a BMX geek, I had to try it!
Here is a pic of my reservoir, it is the bottom of a Tropicana OJ jug (don't mind the bugs), and the 32 oz bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide sloution from Wal-Mart.

I cleaned one pedal with simple green and a toothbrush first, then put it in the peroxide soak till it was completely submerged. I took the container out to my back deck last Sunday, I flipped it every day, and now its Thursday (5 day soak) and here are the results (guess which one was soaked
):

outdoor pic in the sun:
OH HELLS YEAH!!!!
I see alot of posts about whitening yellowed plastic, and I dont know if this would work on Tuffs or OE's or seats or more porous plastic, but this is the shiznit for hard plastic like these pedals.
Hope this helps someone else. ![]()

Thanks for the props guys!
Wal mart, target and most drug stores have the large bottles.
I'm going to try this on the set of skyway OEs that are on my Decade in the next few weeks. I will post results here.

Sun must be the key. I have a white pair of KKT's soaking for 2 days and nothing. Will sit out in the sun tomorrow.

Re: Whitening yellowed hard plastic (ABS?) pedals
Christian- yes sunlight is the key. Oxy Booster type detergent can enhance the effects too
thx5150 - definitely post up the pix when you do your seat
bamboo- yes, pop off the end cap, disassemble, clean, repack, reassemble. prying out the end cap is the hardest part but otherwise a pretty simple task![]()

Re: Whitening yellowed hard plastic (ABS?) pedals
Has anyone tried this on something other than white? Just wonder if it will just clean (say a pair of red pedals) or will it take away the color and dull them? I'm assuming it would dull?
