Re: North Carolina Riders

i grew up in Salisbury but now I'm in MI. Use to ride with Mike Corley the owner of Eastern. There is several good spots to ride. There were several ledges new the friendly Q pool hall if that is still there. Also there is a cool Wallride behind the courthouse at an old Cemetary. just don't get caught by the cops. LOL

We had a pretty cool scene in Salisbury back inthe late 80's.

Looking for any early Hoffman stuff. Frames, bars, stems, etc...

Re: North Carolina Riders

The scene here has always been good, it just feels like it has died off. I used to ride with Billy Dexter(former Eastern), Phillip Teague(former Eastern, David Stroud(former Mosh) and hung out at 401 trails with guys like Chris Doyle, Cory Muth, etc.. I was about 3 years younger than most of those guys, I loved watching them ride it pushed me to try new stuff. I just wanted the guys that are still around here to get together and bring attention back to the sport. The announcer at the local track said it best this past weekend. "The only way for the sport to grow is through grown up involement. Kids don't have the voice or means to help the sport the way we do."

You guys are all welcomed to come up here and ride!

what's up Johnny, I am hoping to to do a lot of traveling next summer as far as racing and riding goes. I finally got to the track this year and my son loves it. He is training everynight to get his legs stronger so I think we are going to let him race a couple times before the season finishes out and then next year hit it hard. Are yall ABA or NBL up there?

Both ABA and NBL tracks are still available, but the HamptonSuper track is now ABA near me.

I'm looking for the following frames, frame & forks or completes by BMX products:
MotoTrac (nickle or chrome), Racer-X or a Super-X (with the double gussets).
Thanks wink
I'm also johnng23604 at "Retro-goose", "VintageBMX" & "RADbmx"

I'll catch ya around. I need to go fix a couple of kids bikes that were just at the door knocking.
Later and goodluck with your ride/gathering.

The pool hall is no longer there, its now the children's theatre. I don't see too many kids riding street around town. Mostly just Wal-mart transprortation. I heard theres a few kids in Rockwell that ride and I think the South Rowan Y has a skate park. Eastern's dist center is in Landis.

Re: North Carolina Riders

Depending on location & what others are willing to drive to in NC but Cary has a decent skt/bike park http://www.townofcary.net/depts/prdept/ … rdpark.htm which is located with in a recreation park. Also some really nice resturants/bars/mall with in riding distance from the park. Just throwing out possibilities.

Re: North Carolina Riders

Cary's park is nice. I could try to find out about discounted rates if everyone wanted to do that. My buddy is the manager over there, we would have to do it when they have the 4 hour block of time open for bmx

Re: North Carolina Riders

I would go for any place that everyone could just get together and go cruise around.  I figure each city should have some cool places to go hang out.  We just need to figure out a good place that is the best for everyone.  I live in between Winston and Greensboro myself and there are some decent place to go ride.  I know of about 6-7 people that would come out for a rude in this area anyway.  (We do have a track at Tanglewood outside of Winston also.)

Re: North Carolina Riders

I'll travel anywhere between Asheville and Raleigh if we get something going. However, I think our biggest numbers are between Charlotte, Winston, and Greensboro. If we can find something more centrally located it will be easier to get everyone involved. I'm going to scout a couple locations here in Salisbury, and hopefully everyone else interested can do the same and we can get something going soon.

Re: North Carolina Riders

Burlington is kinda in the middle.  It's got some BMX history here as well... The Woody/Tim Hutch show was filmed here, there's some awesome riders around, and we've got a great track to have a show at.  The folks who run the track would almost 100% support us and help.  Plus it's not too far from downtown where  there are a few places to eat and some places to ride downtown as well.
