1984 Hutch Pro Raider
Courtesy of Santa Claus himself (Special thanks to Mom for making and selling all those arts and crafts so they could afford this).
I've had this since Christmas 1984, and it's been in the attic the past 15+ years. It's finally restored - Love this bike!
Many thanks go out to guys like BDaly, jrny, indy, bmx, DoubleXXElf, jez, liljspeed, crash-endo, and many others for your help with this.

I am not sure that I want to thank you for getting me addicted to this site and back into this bike thing...I can not believe that I am on here right now, my wife is about to kill my ass.

You should most certainly be thanking me! Your wife needs to start coming around on this deal, or I'll have to set her straight. My bike finally gets finished this week - pics/updates to follow on that as well as Curt's ride. Gettin it done!

Lol, good luck with the wife coming around to BMX thing, and if you manage it, let me know how. Mine is completely and totaly opposed to "stupid little bikes" She just doesn't get it, and I could use some ideas on how to make her understand.

Ride it till you break it. Then weld and ride it some more.

Re: 1984 Hutch Pro Raider
Great Raider! I just got mine out of the attic and so it's back to school. What kind of hollow bolt do you have in your stem?

Re: 1984 Hutch Pro Raider
Thanks for the kind words.
The hollow bolt in the Hutch stem is one that Ace Bike Shop just happened to have laying around, so I was lucky on that one.

Re: 1984 Hutch Pro Raider
Cool bike Matt. Glad to see you are not afraid to do what you want to with it. Too many nagging purists on here at times. Back then our bikes were multi-purpose (FS, racing, street, lake jumpers, etc.) so I'm glad to see you built it up in a fashion that suits your riding style.
I had a candy red SE Bronco at one point that had all GT white FS parts on it and pegs so although most of my bikes were dedicated FS or racers there were a few that snuck through this way and it was all RAD.
10 points for keeping an original child hood bike.
However, now you have no excuse for bustin' out multiple bar spins when jumping on dirt or vert since you got that gyro. If you're gonna put it on you HAVE TO USE IT!!![]()

Re: 1984 Hutch Pro Raider
Well done on the Raider dude. Nice looking bike - all I ever wanted was a Hutch when I was 15. And a Diamondback. And a GT. And a Race Inc. And... well, to be honest I was happy with my clunky old Raleigh Burner. Keep your eyes peeled for that time machine fellas, I know where I'll be heading!!
Peace.
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

Re: 1984 Hutch Pro Raider
Very cool that you've had this Hutch since '84. Just acquired a Hutch Jr. Racer. Just checkin' out local Hutch owners. My husband is rebuilding my Hutch to my liking. This is all very fascinating... and addicting I might add!!! Beautiful bike. Since this is my first OS bike, I'm becoming quite partial to the Hutch's, but finding that all the components are pricey - YIKES!
