2004 Haro Freestyler
2004 Haro Freestyler
This is the first bike to be offered to the public as Bob Haro has #1, 2 and 3 are at Haro Bikes, and #4 is with yours truly.
Been riding Haro's since day one and have my original '82 Haro Freestyler modified to be Bob's 1983 BMX PLUS cover shot bike.
The Freestyler was the first and what a great bike it was and is very collectible! To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Haro, Haro Bikes came out with the retro Freestyler. This was a combination of the 2003 Mirra frame/fork, Haro half chrome/paint look in '87, and Haro's awesome graphics.
The bike comes with alloy 48's but made it a little more Old School by throwin' on some retro Skyway Tuff II's with Kool caps to make them look like OS graphites. Shimano DX pedals were added to accent the gold hubs.
Enjoy!!!

Hey JT,
I like your setup on the retro Freestyler/Master, but you have the year wrong, 2004 not 2003 ![]()

Re: 2004 Haro Freestyler
Thanks on the bike!!!
I beg to differ on the year though. Bob Haro started his company legally in 1978 and 25 years later is 2003. He started making plates in '76 and by '78 things were going really well to move out of his bedroom to an office.
This bike was featured for the 2004 Interbike show, September '03, and I got my bikes in November of '03.
When Haro Bikes promoted this it was 2004 but technically the 25th anniversary started in 2003.

Re: 2004 Haro Freestyler
I understand what you're saying, but they were sold as 2004 model bikes and any put in the museum should reflect that.
If the 2003 dealer books/catalogs (public and dealer only prints) sent out to Haro dealers featured the 25 Anniversary theme than I wouldn't have even had mentioned anything, but since Haro celebrated it in 2004 and all literature they printed up marketed it as an 04 model than again there's no debate in my mind what year this bike should be under.
I'm also an ex-owner of an 04 Freestyler (#166) now owned by another museum member. My friend and manager at the time purchased it (along with another) for me through Haro's silent auction. Both received in late 2003 and I still know it's an 04 model.
I still love those gold ano centers, I'm surprised there aren't many more mag wheeled bikes in the museum with custom colored add on caps like that after seeing how much they help the looks of your bike, even though so subtlety. Oh and way more affordable than actual graphites! lol

Re: 2004 Haro Freestyler
Yeah, everything is cool!
I did buy those tires after I took the pictures so I'll have to get some updates. I did add the new Haro Lightning plate to it.
