1982 Haro Freestyler featured in the book FREESTYLE MOVES
The first bike Bob rode after creating the Haro Freestyler frame and fork.
Right after the frame and forks were being completed by Torker Bob set out to promote Freestyle by performing many of his tricks on the new Freestyler.
To promote the Freestyler further he came out with the book FREESTYLE MOVES.
This book covers:
* Preparing for battle
* Bike prep
* Ramp building
* Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced moves
* Bailing: Eating tips
The tricks look basic today but back 25 years ago this was all new. Bob needed a bike to withstand all the abuse Freestyle did to a race bike so with a modified Torker we have the first true Freestyle bike. The double top tube design allowed for many tricks, the steeper head tube angle for better control, coaster brake arm bracket, gussets, thicker tubing, and awesome design/graphics!
When I got my Freestylers in '82 I couldn't wait to build up the bikes. Compared to my Torker it was a huge difference and why this frame and fork was so successful. I retired them in 1985 when I got the new Master frame and fork.
Years later it's been so fun to resurrect my two Freestylers to share with everyone the history of the Freestyler...from Bob's Torker, this bike, and then his '83 version with Vector bars.

The book was awesome and as soon as I got it I went out to dial the moves I didn't know, like the nose wheelie!
Great book, bike, and rider! All of these took Freestyle to a new level!
Everytime I see the bike in my house I feel like going outside to do some of those tricks...those were great times!!!
Here's mine signed by Bob and Ron Wilton in '83

Check out the Haro serial number post. I'm not seeing any for 82. Do you know when the first frames were manufactured? What's your letter prefix for the serial number?? I am trying to find out the numbers ranges for 82.
Thanks

The first frames were built late October 1982 and are prefixed by TXX.
1983 had TUU's then TTT's, TSS, TRR, TQQ, TPP, TOO, TNN, TMM, TLL, TKK, TJJ, then TII
Hope that helps?

What are the "TVV" frames?
I never see those in the list of serials.

JT thanks for the info but could you fill in the blanks? If you do know the 1982 Haro Freestyler prefix and number ranges for each month it would be helpful. The Haro serial number post lists them from 83 on.
Thanks ~ Nealsky

This is awesome. I love the bike and the book. I had a copy of the book when it came out, and remember thinking how exciting and innovative things in the sport were at the time. Little did I know things would take off and be more outrageous than I could have imagined in the years to come.
