2001 Haro Backtrail Pro USA-made
The last BMX bike i bought before joining the Museum. That was in 2002. Right now i miss it a little because i have a year and maybe more to ride it as it was intended to be ridden.... I usually have only one complete bike to ride and many other in parts in my locker. First of all,i bought just the frame. I ordered it from a dealer here in Greece. I wanted to try a Usa built frame in order to compare it with the Taiwan made ones. It cost me 400 euros finally (included shipping and dealer costs) The 3pc crank-set & chainring are from a breaking 2000 Haro Mirra Pro stock bike.I also bought separately the rest of the parts in order to look like Ryan's bike...the guy who inspired me.
PARTS LIST:
* Frame: Haro Backtrail Pro Y2K1, Usa made, 100% Cr-Mo, CNC'd head tube and bottom bracket, serial number on the right dropout reads: H00864
* Fork: Haro Straight Shooter Full Cr-Mo with CNC steerer
* Bars: Haro Jack-Hammer 4130 Cr-Mo (same feel as the GT Vert bars, which are my favorites)
* Cranks: Fusion 3pc tubular Cr-Mo 175mm
* Chainring: Haro MegaNuke 10mm thick, Usa made
* Headset: FSA Sky Pilot sealed 1-1/8"
* Brake Lever: Dia-Compe Tech 99
* Rotor: SST Oryg with Dragonfly upper cable
* U-Brake: Dia-Compe 990 with Cool stop brake padles
* Stem: Haro Small Block...dealer said it was the Usa made version...who knows
* Seat Clamp: Haro Double Ought
* Seat Post: Aluminium, unknown
* Rear Hub: Formula 14mm sealed 48h
* Front Hub: Haro MegaHub sealed
* Saddle: Haro Mirra Pro Landing Pad
* Pedals: Primo Super Tenderizer
* Chain: KMC Z510
* Rims: Alex Supra Alpha
* Tires: Maxxis Hookworm
* Freewheel: 16t ACS Claws
*UPDATE: Bike is going threw some changes, new and better parts will be fitted. It will be lightened too...i know it sounds as a joke,but some way to heavy parts has got to go..frame STAYS!

Re: 2001 Haro Backtrail Pro USA-made
Thanks...
Intense...it's not named like that by the company actually...
I just added the parts, a stock Backtrail Pro used to have (except seat-post & rear hub), on the U.S.A. frame Haro used to offer as an option....in order to make it a replica of Nyquist's own ride.
There're some differences from the Taiwan made Backtrail Pro.
The quality is better, the welds on the headtube gussets are totally different , the dropouts are thicker, there's no holes on the chainstay-seatstay tubes, the headtube is CNC made and huge, there's no "Haro" stamps on the frame and the serial is located on the dropouts.
Finally the "H" logo on the headtube is not a sticker, instead it's carved on an aluminum plate.

Re: 2001 Haro Backtrail Pro USA-made
Bike is getting updated soon!!
I'm on the hunt for some newer Haro-Premium parts:
-New wheels will be built.
Here's the plan: ALEX SUPRA B rims or PRIMO BALANCE 7000 rims with Haro Megahubs front&rear or maybe Profile SS cassette hubs.
-Lighter forks:
Haro Pro Lite forks or Premium Lite forks
-Lighter or just a matching stem
Premium Lite stem or Haro Big Block USA-made stem
-Lighter and better cranks:
Haro OS or Haro OS-2/Premium cranks possibly with titanium spindle
Haro or Premium 39t or even 36t chainring
-Lighter bolts:
Titanium bolts almost everywhere
-Better brakes:
Diacompe/Diatech AD999 U-BOX brake, CNC'ed & low profile.
Alloy rotor plate & alloy rotor![]()

Ah - I love the Nyquist Pro. Such a solid roller. I really like some of those new parts you're considering, Costas. ![]()
Here's a pic of mine for fun. I haven't listed it in the Museum yet...

Thanks Kevin!\
I already have your Backtrail in my album,very sweet. ![]()
Here's what i've bought so far:
-a set of those Haro whitewall tires.
-titanium bolts for seatpost clamp,seatpost,brake lever & rear u-brake
-aluminum made FUSION race post (like the one on my Blammo), cut down 8cm.
-Premium 36t sprocket.
Will the 36t spocket fit? Possible chainrub on the u-brake bolts is what i have in mind ![]()
Is there any chance you may have a spare USA-Made Big Block stem??

Re: 2001 Haro Backtrail Pro USA-made
Hey Costas,
OH, sorry man - I couldn't remember if I had shown you my Backtrail yet...
![]()
Anyhow, Yes you do run the potential of chain rub on the brake hardware with a 36T chainwheel. I speak from experience - on my raw Mirra Pro I had to switch to a 39T, but on the gray one I left it alone. If you're running super low profile brakes maybe you can get away with it, but I run 39T on most of my Haros of this era.
