1979 Rampar R11XL Reynolds
Sold, see GlynnyBoy's submission in the museum for a very impressive build.
See the 1979 Catalog section of this site for details on the R11XL:
http://www.thrill.to/RaleighBurner
Made out of reynolds 531 tubing, not chromoly, and its brazed on cable guides were ahead of it's time.
1980 model has a small washer tacked to the brake bride to reduce brake movement.
This bike is lowslung but it has a very chopperish feel in the steering. Definitely a late 70s geometry.
Frame is original survivor, fork decals are reproduction.
Refurbished faded parts with Metalcast Anodized spraypaint. 2 items in the picture are authentic original anodizing. The bars on one of them, can you find the other?
Latest update, switched parts out from a survivor 1980 R10.

Re: 1979 Rampar R11XL Reynolds
I REALLY like the white/gold color scheme. And there are quite a bit of NS gold parts out there to complete the build.
You can't go wrong with Slams. Now they make an even bigger version, the Grand Slams.
Another great choice of frames for your next project Bridge. For some reason, those Rampars always apealed to me, even tho they were considered "cheapies."
I can't wait to see the completed bike.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "save us"...
And I'll look down and whisper "no".

This was my first race bike in 79/80' after seeing it in BMX Action! The following year I bought an R9 in powder blue. Came stock with higher end SR componets. Much lighter bike.
