Re: 2010 dc quadangle is a janky turd
two of the four bolt holes in stem are threaded at an angle ( stem is awful as a whole as well), bearings in bb are notchy, cranks are bent, chain looks like it was spray painted in driveway by my 8 year old nephew, freewheel and hub failed before i reached end of street. Now before everyone jumps on me for bashing let me say that i love my big ripper. My big ripper was reason for wife suprising me with this quadangle. This quad is not just a little bad with a few quirks its a friggin pile and i feel like SE ripped me off.People work too hard for their money to recive products like this.

Re: 2010 dc quadangle is a janky turd
I know that for a lot of the guys here its no big deal they have parts bins full of stuff to swap and lots of connections in industry. They own tons of bikes and can ignore crappy components and other issues but thats not the case for me. I dont get to buy 10 bikes this year in fact i was suprised by receiving this one. We prolly have funds for an extra bike every two or three years and now the one i drooled over night after night making my wife listen to me whine about having is just sitting in garage in peices. So now i have to explain to wife that i ethier dip into grocery money for hub, freewheel,bb, and stem or her birthday present is just gonna sit there.I was super pumped about the 29 quad and now who knows.

Shame, but if it's brand-new, it sounds like whoever assembled it did a crappy job. Hope it wasn't you. ![]()

I have a 07 20" quad and its pretty decent but I also have a 10 24" quad that's a turd. Two jumps and the rear triangle folded like a cheap suit and I'm only 155lbs

Re: 2010 dc quadangle is a janky turd
Not trying to bash you, bro, but at least the stem sounds like it was incorrectly adjusted. Could be the same case with the freewheel. Cranks and chain -- I have no idea. I'll leave you alone if you want, but I'm still wondering if it was purchased as new. If so, talk to the manufacturer, or at least the store it was purchased from. Just unsolicited but free advice, dude. Do with it what you will.

Re: 2010 dc quadangle is a janky turd
Hey Chris, If you still have it , come by my shop in Mesa and we can take a look at it. I am an SE dealer and would love to see if there is something we could do or if it needs to go back to SE under warranty. I would love to be able to help you out. I know SE are great bikes and hate to see a rider so frustrated. Where did you get it from? drop me a PM if you want to.

when building a bike its a good idea to check those things over before hitting the road ![]()
make sure everything is greased properly, also make sure all barring and moving freely but still nice and tight with no play.
this way is something so wrong you can blame the quality of the components. it might be your falt why it failed because you didnt look it over before you took it out. ![]()

Those quads are pretty hit and miss. Mine had a misaligned frame, but I've seen good ones and I've seen awful ones. So I guess it's just luck of the draw.

My 2011 big ripper had a damaged headset out of the box(factory installed) first freewheel went bad in about a week (got a white industies for xmas) and the crank bearings are shot. Lots of similar story's here in the museum.

On the downward spiral to the eternal nap...pedaling and on the brakes at the same time.
I just like riding my bikes! What is wrong with that?

Re: 2010 dc quadangle is a janky turd
i appreciate the offer to take a look. threads that run at anglr through the head are not an issue of bad assembly. i can see the threads running at an angle. I raced when i was 15 to 19 years old and have working on my bikes from then till now. im 38 years old and have been wrenching on bikes cars and motorcycles my whole life. i have assembled more bikes than i can remeber and have a shop and tools that rival any small auto repair shop. the rear hub and freewheel failing also have nothing to do with improper assembly or my failure to inspect before ride. My big ripper .my norco, my flyer, my performer and my wifes globe comfort were are all assembled by me and they are all running just fine. These bikes are not that complicated fellas, no offense but i cant imagine taking my bicycle to a shop for repair. My point is , you can point the finger at me if ya want but i know cheaply made crap when i see it. im sure once i strip it down and evenyually replace everymoving part i will love the f/f but right now it ticks me of a little. Peter you sound like aq stand up dude and i appreciate it. Nice to se that SE HAS SOME REPS THAT CARE. Im not gonna get mixed up in a warranty debate anda whole mess of shipping back and forth. I will steal money from the purse and start buying parts and hopefully someone will come along and convince me that the 29er quadangle isnt a mistake

I've got 3 newer SE's that my family rides and all seem great. If I am not mistaken Peter is willing to take care of any warranty issues you might have so that there is no debate. I've met Todd at Bellflower a couple of times and he seems like the type of guy that make sure that things are right with the SE products.
