Re: 1983 M.T. Racing Silver Fox

thats a clean frame i must say do you have the decals for it to? mine for my trickfox had to be made by a friend i know. i wish you luck on the build man, i'm glad there's still people like us that keep these old school bikes and are able to restore them with close to original condition...i'll be on the lookout for it when you get this cool bike completed....peace

Re: 1983 M.T. Racing Silver Fox

Your pic does not show, if these are aero forks. But I have an old BMX Action equipment guide in front of my eyes (October 1983). There is a Silverfox Model SP, that has exactly the same holes in the gusset and dropouts like yours. Maybe they built it like that over three years?!? Even Spider and Sprocket are similar...I would send you a pic if my damn scanner would work under XP :-(

Heh, just had a look at an advertisement in a BMX Action from September 86. There is a MT Racing The Fox. They had triangle holes in the Dropouts this time and no gussets. Further absolutely different spider and sprocket, i bet yours is 83!

Re: 1983 M.T. Racing Silver Fox

thanks for the info.  they're akisu forks, and the legs are oval, but have a 1/8 inch flat edge in front and back.  i guessed 86 as the year because the first digit in the s/n is a 6, but i hope it's an 81-83.  i'd love to see those pics if/when you could get them up here.  i just finished putting this together today.  i'll take some new pictures tomorrow.

So you did it, man! It looks very nice, especially the black chain and those rims. Congratulations!

Re: 1983 M.T. Racing Silver Fox

Beautiful job!
Here's mine, which apparently has racing history. It came to me in rough shape on damaged coaster skyways and the big CW type bars, with the original grips still on. I guess the bike was bought new and custom parts fitted straight away. Frame number is an 84, as is the team number.
Just needs a new chain and one The Fox sticker

nope, not the frame.  the forks (akisu) legs are oval with a 1/8" flat spot running the length of the legs, in the front and the back.
