Re: Bassett Racing...let's see em!
I see there are # in the badge of the bikes posted, I dont have any just 1982.
There were a few guys in New England that had factory sponsers by Bassett in the early 80's and this was one of the bikes. I dont know who had it before me but the person said he was the 3rd owner of the bike when I bought it in 92

From the photos you posted of your 24" it looks like yours is number 1891, stamped along the right side after the words Bassett.
Some of the plates under the word Bassett and in between the date stamp will say either "Racing Headers Anaheim Calif." or "By Rogers Mfg. Anaheim Calif.". From what I've seen, most early bikes have the "racing headers" stamp. So far, I've only seen the "By Rogers Mfg" stamp on 1982 frames.
For those that don't know, the plates that are welded on are the same plates they weld on their boat headers(still today). I'm still involved in the old v-drive boat scene. When you get burned by that plate on a hot header it's called a "Bassett tattoo".

Really cool cruisers. Interesting to see the Bassett company is still making headers for boats.
If I need to leave you feedback, please let me know. Thanks!

Very nice! Ryan, lets see some pics of your flatty with the Bassetts on it! That way it's not a complete hi-jack of the thread. You're just updating everyone on Bassett with a little "what have they been up to these days". I've got a few buddies that are ski race guys who run v-drive on their flat water boats.

I don't want to hijack, I'd like to keep this thread all about Bassett BMX but...since you asked...here's mine and my buddy's flattys. They actually run Bassett headers and I run logs. I've got a few ski race buddies too. The yellow boat in the middle is a 1969 ski race boat.![]()

I've heard some interesting stories about Chuck Rogers genius. Recently I heard he's still at it doing custom tooling and machining for some racecars(Nascar).
