1979 Team Rampar
1979 Team Rampar
The near exact replica of the Team Raleigh Rampar ridden by Bottema / Henderson during Raleighs heyday!
I worked at a Raleigh bike shop during high school. We had three of these frames in stock, one in red, nickel and blue. During a War of the stars race in 1980 I meet Bottema and Henderson. At the time I was riding an r11 Rampar. I was waiting for the release of the Raleigh of England team bike. Henderson told me that he cracked the frame on that bike. I then purchased the red team Rampar frame you see in the picture. There have been lots of claims about different models of Rampars being made by BMX products. This frame is the only Rampar made by BMX products. All other Rampars; r10, 11, 11xl, r9 were all made in Taiwan. The r10 was 100% mild steel. The r11 was chromoly 3 main tubes. Mild steel seat stays. R11XL was 100% Reynolds 531 tubing. R9 was 100% chromoly. The 400x forks had chromoly stem with mild steel fork tubes. Thanks for looking at my bike . The Haro plate is the exact replica of Bottemas 1979 plate. I obtained the graphite Tuff wheels and helmet from a less famous factory Raleigh rider. The other Raleigh parts are the handlebars and rear tire. The flight cranks are the only item on the bike that is new school.
Photo #4 is a Raleigh Rampar jersey signed by Jeff Bottema.

Well they listed my 75 RECO Super-X as a Racers Super X, don't expect the Mods to actually understand what they are doing before they stick your bike in a category.
That is really nice, sweet looking bike. ![]()

Re: 1979 Team Rampar
Thats a kick ass Rampar there. And true that BMX Products made that frame only. Alot of people think they made other frames & bikes too for them. Excellent job there.

WOW!
Excellent job, that is the exact same bike.
For me this is the grail of BMX
together with the UK Raleigh TI made one.
Really well done.
Any close ups of the frame stickers and decals?. Would love to have a better look.
Also those bars are awesome! It's with the double drop crossbar right?
How wide is that thing and where can I find one? ![]()
I'm looking for: Bottema fork 20" (large drop outs), Red or Gold Tuf neck w/ Bulldog sticker, red and yellow Rampar pad sets and another BMX products Rampar frame always welcome

Re: 1979 Team Rampar
This is the bike that Bob used to race in the Chicago area in the early 80's at Itasca and Tinley Park among others. Bob had the entire Raleigh uniform and the Bell Moto Helmet in the picture. He had bushy blond hair that stuck out of his helmet and everyone thought he was Toby Henderson.
