Custom Standard Bykes 24" Trickstar / Gt Performer Hybrid
So for the past couple of years I started getting back into bikes, when I started back up I knew I was too big for the old 20" bikes of my youth, so I started out on MTB/Road Bike Hybrids.
They worked for me but something never felt right. March of last year, I actually started going back into bike shops to see what was around and found the OM Flyer.
I enjoyed it because it had a BMX feel to it but I wanted something that felt more like a BMX for my size. And I got a Dyno 24" from around 99 and it felt GREAT other than the tt was a little short.
I finished my masters in January, and by February I got a bill from the student loan company saying I had to pay $50,000 of my $120,000 student loans by May, merely 4 months to come up with $50,000. I freaked and anything shy of suicide I contemplated it, even faking my own death.
Then I said screw it, I am going to have a bike made just for me. It is my official Go FnCK yourself to the student loan company and the school that failed to find 1000's jobs.
So as I got back into this whole mess I started cataloging in my head what parts of what bikes I enjoyed.
The Hutch Trickstar is my favorite bike of all time, and I had the Performer growing up, so I wanted something that would take me back to a childlike state as to not have to worry about the impending financial doom looming over my head. So since I missed out on the Knight GT 24", I came up with this.
After some research from you guys I found out that Standard Bykes does custom jobs and contacted Jesse.
So I got some pictures today after 5 months of hiccups and problems with some of the parts.
Jesse and Rick, I got a little impatient here and there, and for that I cannot apologize more, I just hope you guy know what this bike means to me and what it represents.
You guys made it happen, and you made a dream come true.
Let the build thread begin!!!

Here is the parts list I have.

Re: Custom Standard Bykes 24" Trickstar / Gt Performer Hybrid
The bike will be Candy Green. I knew Hutch did some Candy colors back in the day, but I also liked Green that GT did back in the day.
So I decided to Hybrid that and just go Candy Green.
So here are the decals that will go on the bike designed by yours truly.

LOL! The funny thing is, when George Bush signed off on that stimulus package for the banks, it voided the old loophole where if you claim bankruptcy you don't have to pay back your student loans.
In fact, if I claimed Bankruptcy, I would have had to pay back more, probably $300,000 instead of $120,000.
When I read the find print a couple of years ago on the student loan papers, it said.
Reasons for not having to payback your student loans.
A. If you die.
And that was the end of the section, no joke. If my parents had cosigned on the student loan, even if I died, they would have had to pay it back, which I am glad they didn't.

DUDE, thats awesome!!!!!!
The only thing I'd do different is use the GT Performer style font for the "TRICK FORM and Tucker" decals to give them the complete Hutch/Gt fused look......the font your using kinda looks a tad hard to read
once again, great idea. cant wait to see the end result......![]()

Re: Custom Standard Bykes 24" Trickstar / Gt Performer Hybrid
Rick got the forks finished and took some better photos for me.
Rick and Jesse, you are the greatest.
I think within the next year I want to order 10 of these to get Tucker BMX off the ground. I keep having a fantasy of release 10-20 frames of retro inspired cruisers just for fun.

They still need to powdercoat which I was told would take 3 days - 3 weeks, and at this point since I finally see what it's become I can't wait, but I know all will be worth it no matter how long it takes.
The specs are as follows.
4130
22" Top Tube
Loop tail, standing platform, rear dropouts, and coaster brake mount just like a trickstar
Downtube like a GT performer
25.4 seat tube
round lower chainstay bridge
flat upper brake bridge
1 1/8 integrated headtube
gyro tabs
All the parts are sitting here shaking in their boxes.
Thanks again Rick and Jesse.

I messed with a lot of fonts, and the two fonts were so different that it was hard to fuse them, at least to my abilities.
I always loved the wings designs of Gt and SE, and since the front dropouts are a fusion of SE/Standard/Hutch after 4 or 5 attempts that is the one I like the most.
I think later on I may change the downtube decal, but I am still happy with the Top tube decal.

YES!!!
Told you it would come out awesome!!
I had originally thought of going looptail also but was convinced by many that the new Standard rear triangle was much stronger and could handle more abuse from flatland.
Congrats Bro!!![]()

Well when I ordered this, I asked Jesse if they had any 39t chainrings in stock and she said they were out, so I got some from Porkchop. But I REALLY wanted to represent Standard for making my dream bike come true.
But Justin got these in which represent standard and the green should go great with it.
I like GT parts, but if I did a GT stem I would have wanted it to be a mallet stem and they don't have those, there was a guy on here making them, but I LOVED the Knight Retro stems.
I have a friend that does CNC work and said he would make me a 1 1/8 Hutch-style western stem with my Tucker "T" on it for $120, and I am going to do that a little later.

No I don't mind, but after sending certain parts back to be re-made, Rick said he will never do it for this price again.
After Frame and Fork with custom dropouts, powdercoating in Candy with multiple parts I sent to be powdered it came to a cool $1150 or so.
The one comfort I do have in this is that in Texas anything over $1500 is felony theft, so if this is ever stolen the perp will get some severe jail time and a strike.
And in my town, if someone does steal it, there are not too many places to hide it.
