1981 Mongoose Motomag

1981 goose rescued from rattle can HELL

After months of browsing this website I finally joined. Bought this frame and fork from museum member hboost (thanks again bro) - His original "for sale" photos and description showed great potential. Read alot of the forums, bought some citristrip, isopropyl alcohol, blue magic and got busy. The pictures really tell the story. Last photo is how she showed up at my door. Decals are all OG including seatmast decal which was spray bombed too. I really appreciate all of the info and advice from the members I have communicated with so far. More bikes to come, I just wanted to get something up here to start. I just picked up the mongoose double clamp (first photo) in awesome shape with original mint decal for 40 bucks this past weekend. A possible build could be in the works. Thanks for looking. regards, Jimmy

Re: 1981 Mongoose Motomag

looks like that started life as a california special.the red seat stay decals indicate this(the little red ones by the rear brake caliper),the cali special was the only goose apart from the motomag that came with red ,all the other geese came with yellow seat stay decals

Looks just like my first ever Mongoose.

Very nice clean up!

Hope to see her built up one day...

Re: 1981 Mongoose Motomag

Thanks man, still undecided on the build. I'm working on 1979 scrambler at the moment. This paint strip and polish was a spur of the moment thing.

Good call on the California Special - red seat stay decals. I always liked the red ones better!
