1966 Schwinn Stingray
1966 Schwinn Stingray
rescued from the weeds to ride again...
I found this frame in a stand of bamboo. I met this guy who was clearing out a stand of bamboo in his yard, in the thick was this Schwinn frame amongst about 30 other bikes from the 70’s. I just hung on to it because of the gussets that were welded into it back in the day, it had been converted for BMX use sometime in it’s life. I got the NOS morris mags from a customer; the rest just slowly came together over time as I was in no rush to build it and not actively seeking parts. Once all the parts came together, I used some OSH orange spray paint and assembled the bike.
66 Schwinn Sting-Ray frame
Morris Mag Wheels
Generic “box” bars
Ashtabula stem
Schwinn Varsity crank and chainring
New tires
MX seat and sissy bar
Schwinn Scrambler Fork
A bicycle is like a toothbrush; you should have one and use it often.

That is a very cool bike. Good job putting it together, and good job saving the Schwinn.

Looking for pre 1981 Redline MXII f/f with original black paint and decals.

WOW GREAT SAVE... on a really SWEET looking Schwinn, didn't notice the added gusset until I read the description, now that's how BMX's looked in the VERY EARLY DAYS!!!
