1995 Jalapeno 24

This bike was owned by Melissa Buhl. It was one of her retired race bikes that I bought off Pat Blackburn.

Super sweet. Jalapeno was a company that helped change the design of BMX. This bike was raced by Melissa in the mid 90's. I purchased 2 of her retired bikes from Pat Blackburn, her old race coach. These were made by "frank the welder". The welds on these frames are sick to say the least. Has adjustable brake bridge.
Pat Blackburn:
"Jalapeno had a major impact on the sport and most people don't know about the bikes or the story.  Most people don't know that the bike design basically changed the industry, we started the woman's pro class, race in the men's pro class and Melissa was the first amateur to use SPD pedals. I also think that I told you about the "Bruns and Buhl Show" was announced at nationals by Ray Rhome as "the race that you came to see" and the pros and the ABA staff would all stop what they were doing to watch 15 year old girls race."

Re: 1995 Jalapeno 24

hi if this is really pat blackburn i was wondering if you could answer some questions for me i have a jalapeno frame i bought it in 2000 from a bike shop in Lincoln Nebraska it took me over a year to get it i finally convinced the owner to sell it to me right when i saw that frame i fell in love with it and never seen anything like it. it is a expert size frame it is black i believe it is a 95 because there are no tabs for the brake cable like you guys did in later years also there is no seat post clamp built in so i figured it was one of the first years you made. it took me 6 years to build the bike since i was only 12 it took awhile. also i was wondering if i could get a sticker or 2 idk how many the bike had originally but there was none on it when i got it. i think the sticker would have been with silver lettering but i could be wrong it would be really great to hear from you and i could get some information on it and maybe what it would be worth. thankyou for your time

Re: 1995 Jalapeno 24

I am not Pat, but I did buy these bikes from him. I will send you a pm about decals. Although Jalapeno was not a big name it started a lot of the geometry of the frames in that era. Not many of them either!

Gnarly is when it's beyond radical, it's balls out danger, & or perfection, & or skill or all of that combined. Nobody can shred like that guy, he's gnarly.                          \m/  ( º . º )  \m/
