Re: 1982 Morrison Super X

Hi, you have a Morrison Super X, it would have came with the yellow ACS Z rims made by Marlyn industries in Oz. These were the top of the range Morrisons BITD! Cant wait to see it restored!

Re: 1982 Morrison Super X

Thanks for that Rubberneck, I knew a good old kiwi would recongize it, I couldn't quite put finger on the name of it, thanks for that!
There was a nice example of one restored one in a local bike in Dunedin, Cycle Surgery, it sat up on top of a shelf as a terrific display, couple months back now..... always envy'd them, the 'M' in the front gusset is very cool cool
Yep, looking forward to seeing this one restored in the future, do you remember the colours of these bikes from back in the day by chance, I remember seeing them in blue and chrome, not sure about red....? Keen on a decal set for this too if anyone knows.....

Re: 1982 Morrison Super X

Mates Super X was white, and ive seen red as well. All the Australian Z rims were yellow, so bare that in mind if you are restoring to original! Maybe see if you can get a copy if the bike shop still has it on display??

Re: 1982 Morrison Super X

I recently did one of these up and sold it to a bloke in Palmerston North. Did it in factory colour scheme, light blue with yellow Z rims and a white Viscount Dominator seat. I should have really kept it but I just couldn't get use to a 20" bike that weighed twice as much as my 24" Supersport and had ugly pinch forks that just ruined the look of a nice frame.

Nice one, umm damn that was a while ago now that we were talking.....
Since then I have found original ozzy Z-rims in other colours, dark blue and red
I have a red set needing re-spoking and still on the hunt for the blue set, should have snapped up that set link was selling...
Here a Morrison ride I found with the all the original goodies...

Re: 1982 Morrison Super X

So these frames were originally called the Morrison 'M'

Then the lightened race verison came along and they named it the Super X

Re: 1982 Morrison Super X

Sweet Dirt Buster, must be pretty rare now? BMX M named after the gusset, oh the creative minds in the Eighties! But it says made by Raleigh, is that a NZ advert?

umm, not sure if it is a dirty, I think paris texas's buster is more like the original, same as the picture adverts more so
And I remember his one when it was listed.... for sale a long time ago, good score and he's done a good job restoring it
Mines loop tail, Im stumped at the moment, could be the comet, but again the pic shows the comet with a different rear end
.
Yeah I noticed that, a bit weird aye, especially when the gusset has the M for Morrison
Im thinking raleigh might have made a few of these frames at some point and renamed them something else, but wasn't sure
I have also seen the same frame shape labelled as the NZ Viper, pads and all
Will try and get a picture of that one if I can

Re: 1982 Morrison Super X

This is the comet I refer to:
I have also seen one Zipper in my recent times, I remember it because it had a very nice gold SR Lapade seatpost stuck in it, sacrificed the frame for the post in the end
