repro 1 1/8" GT mallet? just a question, NOT AN ANNOUNCEMENT
I have been pondering what would keep a company from creating a faithful reproduction of my favorite stem.
I never liked them until i owned one last year, but I don't have a 1" bike anymore
I started looking for something like it, but only found 2 options
1. A full on custom, and there were only 3 made. Also, it has the external bolts to clamp it to the steerer tube whcih wouldn't look right
2. Suelo V3 stem. Made by FLYBikes, but the lines are off just enough to make me not happy with it
My ideal situation would be externally identical to the Mallet with 1 1/8" steerer and have the internal wedge system like the new S&M FLT stem.
Does whoever owns GT still own the design for the Mallet?

mallet looks with a threadless function ![]()
i think dynomike has one on his 24" knight proformer, and i seen a few other people done something similar.

Im working on one right now. What do you think? Just have to get the GT milled in. Also thought of, instead of the coin, doin the GT wings. I like the wedge idea also.

Both ways and put more material I would have no problem putting that on my bike.
A sight for sore eyes to the blind would be awful majestic. It would be the most beautiful thing that they ever had seen. It would cause such surprise, it would make all of their minds electric. How could anyone tell them that some things are not what they seem?

Gary Belisle is the guys name and this bike http://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=319887 used to be his and has one of the stems on it.
That is so funny that i seriously am not even laughing. I am just sitting here dumbfounded and speechless. Jaw dropped, like a mentally challenged person looking at a Ferris Wheel.

That's the one I was referring to in the original post, but the design makes it not work visually. It needs to
Be done without the clamp bolts. Which got me thinking about the internal wedge clamp system. For all intents and purposes pretty much any quill stem could be reproduced to look identical to the original version but incorporate new school technology that has already been r&d'd, and works quite well. I love the version in that show, and if you read the thread I said i would like to buy it. But would absolutely prefer to have the clean back end of the original in 1 1/8 threadless

I had thought of the same idea of instead the GT coin design, putting the GT wings, I think that would look Super Nice on there.

Doesn't fit the Haro stem I've got =[
If you find a F/S or trade ad from me, ignore it. If you send me a PM and I don't reply right away, I'm not ignoring you - just busy at the moment.
Do I owe you feedback? Please remind me via PM and I'll take care of it.

Id like to do the wings raised. I saw it on one of the new GT frames. Raised wing logo on the front of the frame.

You could mount it with the bolts on the non-drive side. I wish I could have installed mine that way but because of the Gryo plate I couldn't. There are a few more modifications I'd make to the stem I have.
I own 1 of the 3 known to be in existence.
Prototype looks good, berty3dp. ![]()

Some people need to get down off of their crosses, use the wood to build a bridge and GET OVER IT!!!!
I don't build bikes. I just assemble them.
