1980 Jag

1980 Jag

Here is my latest restoration - 1980 Jag with era correct parts.

This Jag frame was recued from the dump only a few short months ago. It was thrown out with a heap of other modern bikes on top of each other and stacked on an old couch. This frame was on the bottom and was a very lucky save. It had three coats of paint on it when found and had a fluted aluminium seat pole stuck well down in the tube. It took me many hours of cleaning, a trip to a fitter and turner to have the pole drilled out and now here we have it...Parts include - gold annodized aluminium handlebars and seat pole, Nitto MX2 goose neck, Tange front forks, Sugino snow flake chain wheel, Takagi cranks, KKT pedals, OGK red tuffs, Comp. 3 look a like tyres and old school bling checkered grips. The decals are reproductions and I'm happy with the result.

Thank you for your efforts on saving this bike. More and more, these Mongoose Jags and Blue Max's are showing up. Just a wonderful find for you. And for us to view. Thanks

Re: 1980 Jag

I'm so glad you saved this one, I regretfully sold my jag in the Reno Nevada area in 1986, a year or two later when I wanted to buy her back I found out she was stolen from the kid I sold it to.
I shiver to think that my old jag might of been stripped of her parts and the frame thrown out as junk. If I could never find her, I'd at least hope she fell into the hands of a collector.  My dad and I built her from the frame up when I was ten or twelve years old, she was black with gold parts except for red tourney cranks and red KKT's.  GREAT JOB!
