Re: 1993 Diamond Back Turbo restoration progress
Yeah, great job wired!!!
I realy like to see the bike when its finished. Do you have some more gimmicks for it in your head??
Maybe Tireflys UV Valvecaps in red and blue?? Pro class wheels and in every hole fixing a bulletvalvecap in gold??
I hope you make a vid when you are driving in the uniform to a bikepark, telling the people, there is a speedlimit on the ramp.
(Beware, the sheriff is there!!!)![]()
I was reading something about to pull the grips with zipties on the bar here in the forum, dont remeber who was it, he put 5 zipties in the griphole and pulled than the grip on the bar.
I dont know if the zipties will be big (high) enough ,that the grip can slip over the LED`s. Also i dont know if the zipties will make any scraches on the bar. Maybe to try it on an old bar first.

Re: 1993 Diamond Back Turbo restoration progress
Nope, no more gimmicks. I figured I was pushing it here as it is.
I did get the grips on, though. I tried my air compressor but there were too many holes in the bars, I couldn't use brute force past half way and I even tried the zip tie method. What finally worked was WD-40. They've been on for a couple hours now and are solid and tight. I also got the brake levers mounted. I'll share some full size pics later but for now, here's another animated gif.

It's in a mounting bracket along the bottom of the bars. It shouldn't be too noticeable once it's next to the stem.

Re: 1993 Diamond Back Turbo restoration progress
I thought you guys were my friends...
Suggesting I get a siren, uniform, bust people at the skatepark... What's next? "Hey Kelly, I got a Dirty Harry Magnum for you to carry on the ride".
I'm already worried that my bike's getting confiscated as it is. ![]()
But, I'm up for a night ride!

Re: 1993 Diamond Back Turbo restoration progress
Hmm...for some weeks ago i saw a report about a bootcamp, where the prisoners was wearing orange suits.
At the moment my Quadangle looks like a gangsterride. Underneath the black it is orange.

As I was fixing the decals I proceeded to damage one I didn't realize was laying against a towel and rubbing.
I lifted the corner up using an exacto and it peeled away cleanly then reapplied one of the backups I had printed.
Kelly, you can also remove waterslide decals by covering it with blue painters tape, rub the tape over the decal, then peel the tape off. Decal will come right off with it. ![]()
Obviously this only works BEFORE you apply any top coat over them, but it's stupid easy!

Re: 1993 Diamond Back Turbo restoration progress
I made it a little further today and thought I had to stop - but the roadblock part, a 30mm 1" headset from Porkchop showed up today! I wasn't expecting to see it until Monday. Maybe I can get some more done after everyone goes to bed.
I bought this bottom bracket from Justin over a year ago. Square taper spindles are not common on my bikes but I'm excited to use this one - finally.
Here is the last part I will polish for this bike. Hopefully I'll get to it tonight.

Lastly, I decided to go for some contrast on this stem. I'm not usually one for mismatched caps and bases but I really like how this turned out.
