I restored this one just like I would have if I was building it when I was a a kid.
Hardware store spray paint! Turned out great too.

nice. i am doing this to one of the repop Stingrays that Wal-Mart sold at Christmas a few years back. mine is even black like this. there's some mid-school stuff on it now, because it's what i had around... but seeing yours, i want to go the full retro route, MX tires and old bars like that.
