I still don't understand why Hutch is more valued than the Schwinn?!  Nor do I understand how that dude on ebay still has all those king sting frames.?!  Unreal cool!  A true slice of Americana!

Incredible story!  Your dad must be super cool; he rides a Schwinn and he likes Van Halen!  Great job!

Nice. I love the wheelie shots!

Good call using "rider" tires for riding. Those old NTKK's might not hold up. smile

Classic thread here!

Re: Donny Atherton Factory Sting Build

Best thread ever!

The expression on Donny's face in those pictures says it all.
Now that I'm in my 40's there's not too many things that put that look on my face anymore, but if one of my boys made a gesture like you did I bet that would do the trick.  Nice work, Ethan!

Gotta admit my eyes welled up a little at the pics of your father the first time he saw that bike. Thats real genuine happiness and you cant buy that type. Thats love of his son and the memories you helped bring back. Well done will have to do but it's not enough.

Re: Donny Atherton Factory Sting Build

Awesome bike, awesome thread!...I actually met your dad at the Subway Series Ride 09/11/10, but had no idea who he was. I even took iPhone pics at the subway station. When I complimented the bike, he told me that his son built it for him. He was smiling from ear to ear when he told me that you built the bike for him.

Re: Donny Atherton Factory Sting Build

This pic stood out for me. Even in all his elation Donny gets that trigger finger at the brake, like a retired gunfighter who's just been handed his old gun. And you look like you know all the hard work was worth it. This is a story I'll remember for a long time, great work on the bike it looks factory.
