Re: Donny Atherton Factory Sting Build

Hey Evan...

Thanks for sharing those pictures...!!!

Just by looking at a few of them...you can easily see that your Father is a very gracious, caring person.  It is so nice to see a family with that kind of bond...it is also really cool to see that everybody in the family LOVES...BMX...!!!

Nice job...!!!

Re: Donny Atherton Factory Sting Build

This has to be one of the best stories ever on here, as well as one of the coolest builds. If not THE coolest build. Incredible job.

Re: Donny Atherton Factory Sting Build

Thanks for posting up the pics Evan, and two thumbs up to you for being such a great son to your old man.

It's hard to explain to you just how many memories it brings back to guys like me, much less how overwhelming it must have been for your dad.
All those magaines that people have been posting pics from in your other thread were like the Holy Bible when I was a kid. I must have been about 12 or 13 when your Dad was 16x. I had the '80 issue with your Dad's bike feature story and must have read it a thousand times over.  I remember putting a snakebelly on the rear of my Panda back then and getting all the local kids hooked on the idea because 'that's the way Atherton ran his'. 'Got better traction' we presumed!lol

Oh those were the good 'ol days for sure. I lived, breathed, ate, and slept BMX back in those days.  Thanks again for all you've done for your pop and for letting us other old farts enjoy it along the way! coolcool

WOW.. What a cool thread!
Top notch ode to your own family history.

You dad looks super happy.

The bike turned out incredible, as did the number plate recreations.
