1980 Vagabond VMX-50

Old school Canadian made looptail

Vagabond was a Canadian department store brand sold at " Home Hardware " hardware stores .
They started in the mid 1970's and are still making bicycles to this day .
This bicycle is older than me by 2 years , I got it from a junkyard in the early 1990's , so I have no idea what the original components were .
Nothing shown on the bicycle is original , maybe the forks and headset but probably not even .
I had 3 younger brothers and lots of neighborhood friends who all used and abused this bicycle , we were never able to kill it .
Ah ... the memories .. we used to race our beat up , pieced together department store BMXs anytime we could on our homemade dirt tracks ,
through the woods , gravel pits , junkyards and train tracks . Good old fashioned fun ...
That's what BMX was all about for me , not about corporate sponsors , fancy expensive bikes , and a bunch of spoiled rich kids on a manicured track .
Heck , we probably had a lot more fun riding bikes like this on our  course dirt trails !
