Re: 1993 ELF 24"
I am buying a set of those deep purple profile cranks and starting to collect some purple anodized parts. I think the big question is what kind of wheelset do I go with?
Chris Kings probably if I can find purple hubsets,,,, but what type cruiser rims are the best right now? I am 220 lbs. so they need to be sturdy....put Bombshells on my other cruiser. I know someone out there has some good links for me. This is a 90's bike so new components as long as they are in good taste would be great to take a look at. So far I have rear brake arm, Handlebars, headset, frame, forks(Robinson's but i might change if i can find original ELF cruiser forks to match the frame or with perfect stickerset on them....pedals
I will post pics as soon as the parts roll in and lay out in front of the bike so you guys can critique them. a seat post purple anodized chrome would be nice to have also. Seat shoule be easy to figure out and i have a real nice UNI already i can always throw on for pics...

Re: 1993 ELF 24"
The purple components look good on the aqua frames. A member named elfdoublecross has a cool 20" doublecross with the purple on aqua. Can't wait to see it complete. ELFS RULE!!!

Re: 1993 ELF 24"
Factory paint. It is amazing, also I just bought cruiser bars from JKraig so once they are here will take new pics with all the parts spread out in front of it. Now if I could just afford some wheels for this thing and get over the fact the frame has never been built, so hard to scratch them dropouts. What does everyone think about the Robinson forks?? Maybe I should swap them out for elf forks??? I could use some input...

Re: 1993 ELF 24"
That's an amazing find! Elf forks would be better but the Robinson's do look good. How about white tuff wheels? Back in the day a fellow racer had a baby blue Elf with white tuffs and man did that bike look awesome.

Re: 1993 ELF 24"
That is actually not such a bad idea... what kind of tires? I really want this thing to be the best ELF on this site, I want people to have that WOW factor X when they see it like the impossible build at that quality... I posted in the forums under restoration about the wheelset because I am two minutes from just forkin out the cash for a set of Profile built wheels with ss aquamarine hubs...what do you think about that? This bike just is so nice it is hard to describe, the paintjob is seriously sick. Before i scratch the dropouts it has to be "THE SET" everything needs to be perfect in my opinion....
I even have considered buying entire bikes just for one piece off of them to make it correct. The cruiser bars I just got those and they are NOS brand freakin new with a sales sticker on the tip, not even so much as a hairline scratch on them, Oh I paid but I got a Hutch seatclamp NOS still in the packaging also for a killer cheap price so it doesn't hurt so bad to pay top dollar for the bars... This is my flagship anyhow, I could never afford to have a nice bike while growing up and some of my best friends had ELFs and raced and this is my childhood dream bike revisited...Plenty of Folks here can prolly understand...

Re: 1993 ELF 24"
Oh my those wheels sound tasty, polished rims I hope. The guy I knew was running black comp 3's but it was a race bike and there was really no other option. lol. I'm thinking the hubs would have to match perfectly to look right, how about anodized purple hubs, chrome spokes, purple nipples with polished rims? I'm sure what ever you decide will look awesome.

Re: 1993 ELF 24"
verey nice but (LOL) it schould be the one siting on the lawn not the sidewalk! how abought INDUSTRY PRO CLASS 24" rims. then have them custum panted the same color as frame. use stainless dubble-butted spoke's with alloy purpel andized nipples for your wheels .most good bike stores can order that stuff then twist lace the spokes. thats what I did only diffrent colors and used 24" ODDYSSEY t-1000 the older ones with stock flames on them. thats what I had on my 24"elf till it got stold.

Re: 1993 ELF 24"
Yeah i only set it down on the concrete once for contrast and it took me a full minute to lower it the final inch, this frame needs to be thrown around a bit and get scratched up a little, I can't stand having something so nice, i just want to slap some mud on it !!
So the components are all here, I am waiting on a new stem and rimset to arrive then it is off to my local BMX shop for the build, there is a nice redline there i might buy while I am at it, hope some kid din't buy it for christmas....thanks for all the ideas guys hope you all will visit once i upodate for the final build complete pictures. I worked so dang hard to build this one, my toughest project to date.

Re: 1993 ELF 24"
I am just waiting on one set of rims that may work for it then we will all see...araya special editions....if they don't look real good I am going to buy new school rims and lace up both sets of hubs.
So anyhow I have the doublecross I can always use a set of extra cruiser wheels around...
And BTW calm down Waxin24s' you can't rush perfection, if I do not get the details right it will look over the top!!

Re: 1993 ELF 24"
O.K. if anyone even realizes, there have been a few changes also, swapped out the profile stem for JP polished and the handlebars for ELF cruiser bars and the forks for ELF forks, The Robinsons are thicker and actually may look better it will have to be a last minute decision. Its just best I think to build it all ELF components, even if that means less pruple details which I am beginning to think is just as well....I can always resell some items or install on another bike ![]()

Re: 1993 ELF 24"
No that post is not going to work, it is really getting me steamed but I purchased 3 so far none worked so there is one more straight post OTW hopefully will fix the issue, I have a purple Kalloy Uni post that is snug that may end up being used if not they run 25 bucks on ebay.
OH I almost forgot!!! Dropped off the hubs at my bike mechanic today, he called sun rims distributor and chrome prices are up 45% across the board!! You guys better get ready for a huge increase in prices. I had to pay 75 dollars per rim instead of 45 about two weeks ago
Burned holes in my pockets . Anyhow both sets of hubs are being laced this week so after that the bike will be done. I can not wait!

Re: 1993 ELF 24"
Well the update is, I have taken every purple item and replaced them with chrome only. It just did not look right when laid out.
I am going to drop off a few parts in the a.m. then ordering a new chainwheel and seatpost then the bike should be done by next friday, the wheelsets turned out great but the elf ones just looked better than the JPs so I will put them on either my doublecross or a different cruiser frameset....Check back end of next week for the finished product... I hope and pray.
