1984 Diamondback Viper

1984 Diamond Back Viper

This is a 1984 Diamond Back Viper. It was originally purchased new by my brother in about 85. I inherited it a few years later. It is all original except the inner tubes/tires. The original tires had brown walls on them. It used to have the chain guard but it got broken some how and thrown away. Still has the original Dia Compe brakes and pads. I still have the original owners manual for it also. If I can ever find a duplicate decal set I will have the bike repowder coated black and restored to the original factory condition. I rode the hell out of this bike as a kid up until I was about 20. I am still surprised it lasted considering the things I did on it. I rode BMX for a while with it and easily put 2-5 miles on it every day for years.. It originally had a blue "Viper" decal on the lower part of the rear A frame. The upper sticker was a gold one that said, "ABA NO.1, Factory Team Diamond Back". It originally had Diamond Back down the forks. The seat had a white Diamond Back on the sides and the top of the handle bar clamp has Diamond Back recessed in white.
The pads came with the bike but i don't know if they are from Diamond Back as they don't have their name anywhere on them. They are reversible, the other side is solid black with white lettering.
