Re: 1985 Redline Pro Styler

Now that's what I'm talkin about!  I like the tioga bars (or are they CW?) better than the VDC bars.

Thks homey! Those are the CW freestyle bars. The 'Peregrine' lookalike mags are actually OGK mags which is quite popular BITDs in Singapore.

I had the forklifter bars but its the racing version. Think i'll install the bars on if i still can't get the freestyle version & forklifter stem.

Re: 1985 Redline Pro Styler

Yep, this ad never fails to stop me for going crazy over the Pro Styler when i first saw it BITDs & even until today!!!........

But i noticed that the bike in the ad had no fork standers/ pegs at all unlike the usual production models i've seen either on magazines or eBay........ Is it because the one in the ad is a prototype model meant only for R.L.???

Re: 1985 Redline Pro Styler

The one in the ad is an 84.  No fork pegs in 84.
You claim that yours is an 85 which is when the high fork pegs appeared.  Your's should be chrome under the paint.  85s had the chrome rear triangle.  Only the 84s came in all white.

Re: 1985 Redline Pro Styler

Peregrines are perfect for 85+ but it would be sacrilegious to put them on an 84.

Oh, i see!!!........ Thks a million for the valuable history lesson, homey!!!..........

And yes, mine came in Turqouise with chrome rear triangle & fork initially but i really LOVE the '84 design in the ad............ The '84 ones are really hard to come by on eBay & also the pricing really cost a bomb to me sad......... Nonetheless, just trying to fulfill one of my childhood dream as much as i can............

Anyway, if i install a PL 20 fork on the bike no one can tell the difference besides from the serial number, right???tongue.........

Re: 1985 Redline Pro Styler

ulrich... It looks like you removed your original post that "Tuffs should never reside on a redline
".  That's what I took offense to.  Arguably THE best looking Redline EVER came with Tuffs.  Peregrines look great on Redlines, no argument there. But if you're going to do an all white retro 84 build like this one Peregrine Master's just would not do it justice.  Tuffs are the correct choice for this particular build.

Re: 1985 Redline Pro Styler

Yawn. I bought my red Prostyler in '86 with 48s, and got a set gray Peregrines soon thereafter. The following summer, I swapped the Peregrines for a set black Andy Patterson signature Tuff IIs from a guy visiting from France.

I kept the Tuffs for 20 years (RL20 was stolen in '95) and now put them on the chrome RL-20 II I just got. Waiting for 48s from Canada. And I'd love to have a set of gray Peregrines for the bike as well so I can ride with all 3 "looks".

So what does that make me?
