Re: 1983 Robinson Expert

I love the look of this bike! I'm not sure what it is. I've tried to recreate the look on some of my bikes, but it's just not the same. I keep coming back to look. I may be in love. yikes tongue

Re: 1983 Robinson Expert

Thanks a lot!
I think its the black wall tyres and black rims that give it a kinda bold look.
I wanted the bike to have a no nonesense look to it, hence the colour coded MX1000s, wheels as mentioned and the simple colours.
Thanks for the comments, appreciated!

Re: 1983 Robinson Expert

Did you remove the gusset and paint it or did you get it this way? I remember riding my brand new '83 when the'84s came out w/o the gusset and was like "hmm gotta get me one of them"
bike looks great.

Re: 1983 Robinson Expert

The frame was listed as an '84 when I bought it and was painted black which I was told was to protect the chrome whilst it had been stored away. But, when I received it and checked the serial number it was stamped as an '83.
I got a phone call from the powder coater to say that when he stripped the paint he had found a defect on the down tube and it was then that I realised that the gussets had been removed.
I reckon it was a case of trying to make the frame look like the newer frames.....

Re: 1983 Robinson Expert

Thanks man...!
It is loosely based on a Robinson available over here in the UK in '84. They were predominantly chrome with the gold decals but a few were produced in red.
I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out!
