1979 Huffy Pro Thunder

1979 Huffy Pro Thunder survivor with Tuff II's

I picked this bike up of CL for $5 last summer. It came from a lady who said her son had moved out / grown up and left it behind. It was as shown when I picked it up. Tuff II's, gold Tuf-Neck, chromoly v-bars, Shotgun seat, gold KKT pedals. All I did was throw the Tuff's in the dishwasher, paint the frame, new tires, and new chain......voila'. This one I'll let the kids ride around and have fun on. I'll let the Decoster stay on the wall.

Re: 1979 Huffy Pro Thunder

I found one of these f/f's with a few parts in a field in about 1982, and it was super rusty already (midwest fields do that to bikes!). It was white with some red. I painted it black and put gold Team Cycle parts on it from Farm and Fleet, and a few parts from a local IL bike shop. Anyway, it turned out a lot like this one. This is actually the closest I've ever seen to that bike that I built in 1982. This is a nice survivor, but if by chance you ever do part it out, I'd be interested in at least the f/f. Very cool to see one like my first BMX bike again smile cool

WTB: Nothing, unless it's a real cheap local survivor score!

Damage such as broken welds, bent forks, and 'flat spots' on rims will result" -- Breaking all the bicycling rules since 1977.

Re: 1979 Huffy Pro Thunder

I would sware this was my old bike. I sold it to a kid for $60 when I went to high a dance in high school in 1982. It had this frame, gold tuf neck, v-bars and a yellow viscount seat. But it had Carolina yellow mags instead of the Tuffs and also had a gold fluted seat post. I got the goose bumps when I seen this picture!

Old school for sure. This reminds me of the very 1st bmx I laid eyes on during my 1st visit to the U.S.A bitd.

Re: 1979 Huffy Pro Thunder

I had the same model and color combo stolen of the porch a few weeks after Christmas. We must have driven arround for days after looking for it...now I know where it went...hmm

Sweet find!

That pro thunder was a great bike to wheelie on.
