Submitting Bikes To The Museum
This is an old thread and the new instructions can be found in the toolbar under " Submit Bike "
Edited on 3-11-12
Bike pictures should be about the frame and forks and not as much about the parts (we have a parts section). We want a shot of the drive side of the bike as the first shot, next 2 can be whatever is distinctive about the bike, the last shot should be of the dropouts. If you dont have or dont want to list the serial #'s thats fine, just put none in the serial number field. The numbers dont show up on site anyway, just for reference. Scooters other bmx related bikes can be added, but will be in the non-bmx category, so they will not show up in the bmxmuseum view, only on your homepage..GAry..
When submitting a bike, please take some time and fill in the correct info for each box/question. I just corrected one entry for an 80s freestyler that listed it as a 2007 race bike, because they didn't take the time to change the boxes on the form. Also, please give a description in the spaces provided, instead of just, "got it for $23". Who cares!! tell us what it has on it and some history!

Re: Submitting Bikes To The Museum
oh yeah, i almost forgot the other thing that i saw a lot of that drives me nuts; submitting a bike to the museum when you don't know what it is. trying to do the 'name this bike' thing through the museum entry. there is a thread in the forums for that, and once you know what it is and what year it is, then submit it. i will delete all that are submitted that are not identified.

pj, maybe we could have nate remove the "Unknown" option from the Company list, and change the highlighted message from
Don't know?? Set it to "Unknown"
to
Dont know, post pictures and any info in the Name It forum

Re: Submitting Bikes To The Museum
thats a great idea about the 'name it' idea. i will run that by my bro.
we are having some issues with approving bikes right now, but should be up and running shortly.
remember to fill out everything on the form!

good idea, i'll remove that "set it to unknown" -- i'll also put a large notice at the top about where to post unknown bikes.

Dont sweat it, it will be there. My first bike was a Dunlop. There was no section for that either, but they made one for me. It took close to a week and a half

if it has unknown on it, i usually look to see if it is a company that is not listed and make the listing. thanks

Re: Submitting Bikes To The Museum
also, again, if you don't know anything about the bike, like year, make, model, company info etc. etc. PLEASE list it in the 'name it' section to get the info prior to submitting it to the museum. Also I will delete it if it is a for sale, non bmx or anything other than the bike, the info and and picture.

Re: Submitting Bikes To The Museum
has to have all the info before it will be approved in the museum. that is why it is good to post it in "name it" first, then when you have all the info on it, you can submit it to the main museum.
when you do submit a bike to the museum, it might be approved in minutes or weeks. it depends on Gary (site owner) and my schedules. We are the only two that approve bikes.
Thanks and welcome to the site.

Re: Submitting Bikes To The Museum
under your name it will show how many bikes you have in the museum. yours are still in the staging area waiting to be approved. be patient, there are only two of us here that go through all the bikes and make sure they are good to go before approving them.

Re: Submitting Bikes To The Museum
almost always a backlog!! Gary and I go through the bikes (although some slip through) making sure there are no for sale, or what is this type of bikes and then get around to approving them. be patient, they are going to go through or get deleted some day...

Help!! I am trying to find the value my buddy's hutch .frame serial number is M5-12978, Any help would be great thanks
This is not the right place to post this kind of question... also people would be more apt to help you determine the value if you contribute to the museum in some way first...Like tell us a bit about who you are and what your BMX history is... and get to know a few of the members... if you are in it just for a quick sale take it to ebay. Also pictures are super important when trying to deduce the value of any bike whether it is a Hutch or a Huffy. Not trying to be a jerk just telling you how it is around here ![]()

Re: Submitting Bikes To The Museum
check the photo size. that seems to be the common problem with submitting bikes

Re: Submitting Bikes To The Museum
I filled in:
- Bike title,
- year,
- type,,
- wheel size,
- company,
- short description
- long description
- serial number
- and details.
Plus I added 4 pics.
Did this for two bikes. Both were pending for about an hour, and are now both deleted.
What's goin' on? Why did ya delete my entries???
