1980 Mongoose Motomag

Bad A$$ Bar Hopper!

I have wanted to build this ever sinse I got my first late model bike. I looked into finding just the right frame for this and came across this champ. some one left it for dead outside after trying to file off the serial numbers. It was in just sick Raunchy, Rusty shape that I found perfect for modification! After getting out the seat post that was stuck , I hand machined the rear Drop outs to 14mm to accept the late Eastern hub. I then had to build the rear wheel, came out sweet for my first build and rolls true. Now this King rolls with a 28/9 drive train. Finished off this sick Rat with some Hand built Big Gulp bars with the brake lever welded on in the old school 70's Race style. Took it for a brake in ride to see if this would make it. Man what a sweet ride, SK8 park tested and neighborhood cruised! Best part of all of this build........100% used parts used!

Ha! Love it BB! Nobody has the custom retro Goose vibe that you do. Fearless and always original.

You got your own style my man! Always cool to see your rides and read your words... Rock out! cool

A "Squonk" is like a Mongoose only much harder to find...

Ya, so here's the story on the rear wheel.....took the ass end of a pore GT frame that didn't survive the seat post pull. (Some one slipped and took out the tt with a hammer) so I says to me self billy boy, ya can't give up on a Chrome ass like that, and my won't those center pull brake hangers make a sweet truing stand.....the rest is up to your Irish minds eye as to how I gots that wheel to roll so damn true, mind ya with No wheel hop, it didn't hurt me helpin me self to the Irish whiskey wilst it was takin place.

Re: 1980 Mongoose Motomag

That is the best build I have ever seen. Call me a copycat but I'm going to build one just like it.

I had kids because all my friends grew up and I had no one to play with anymore.
