Tell us what year you bought your first bona fide BMX bike, including the year, and street, city, etc. As many details as you can.

Tell us the dollar amount, and who paid for it.

I'm wondering if a small number of forum members have sold a first bike to someone, years back.

My first BMX bike was a candy apple red 79 Team Mongoose bought in the neighborhood of 15 Mile and Mound Rd. in Sterling Heights Mi....Saxony Dr. to be exact. The year would have been 80/81. It was stolen in Rancho Palos Verdes Ca. in 1985.

My mom wrote a check to a neighbor kid for $45 for the bike.....back when neighbors trusted each other like that.

Anyone here sell that bike to me? I know it's a longshot, but it sure would be fun if everyone here listed what I asked, and see if someone actually sold you that bike who posts here.

Mine was a 78 Motomag with black Tuffs. Mom bought it new at a bike shop on Telegraph rd. in Pontiac..... can't remember the name. And then my second one was a 81 Supergoose (which I still have) was bought at the Bike House in Brighton Mi on Grand River and Old US 23. Both shopes are closed now

As for price, If I remember correctly my Mom paid $149 or so for the Motomag. The Supergoose was built by the bike shop with what I requested and was a heck of a lot more. But can't remember what it was...... check it out in my bikes (it's the one with the blue and yellow parts).

from my lbs, 2003 redline pettycash, miss that bike, dont remeber the exact price $209 or $259, but my parents got it for me. Got it from bike works

Everyone make sure to list the price, if they can remember it. It's always fun to hear that price, compared to what a clean version of it today brings.

i had other bikes but my first real one was a 95 robinson rebel. my parents paid for it. don't remember the price harvey's bike shop lynwood washington

My first NEW bike I got for X-mas! 1993 chrome VFR ( still looking for 1!!!) It was bought new in 93 for around 200.00 Now clue what ever happened to it! Bought in STL on arsenel street!
The first bike I bought with my own money was a 1999 DYNO Zone! Paid 383.00 for it new in 99! Got it from south side cyclery in STL on gravois rd. Sold it at a swap meet when I was 16 for 50.00
Here is a pic of one I amazingly picked up on ebay NOS!

Paid 300.00 shipped for this one!
But the one I am working on getting and building soon is my uncles 1981 scrammbler that my dad and uncle built up for me when I was 4! It had training wheels on it! LOL
I can actually go back to when I was 2 or 3 and I had a 60's schwinn lil tiger!

My first real bmx bike was an '85 Haro Sport bought from Frankford BMX via BMX Plus magazine.. Price.. $300. Bought with money from my summer job.

86 1/2 Dyno Compe blue...its was 189.00 plus tax...i wanted the pink pro compe but it was like 350.00

i delivered lots of papers on my old bike..a Murray X10...collected a ton of aluminum cans, cut alot of grass...i managed to save more than half...my pops spotted me the rest...

this was back in 86 at A1 bikes in Va Beach...they got bought out or merged into Freewheelin bike shop I believe...which is still around

i rode that thing everywhere...i upgraded my parts at Lifestyles bike shop in Kemps River...so happy with Dyno bars, GT mallet, Dyno drain pipe, Tioga CD, odyessy gyro, fork standers, brakes and locking levers...plus Dyno Fish shoes and purple JimmyZ pants...oh yeah, i was stoked...but....

i sold alot of my rare comics...talking about early X-men numbers...first editions of TMNT when it just came out...some robotech stuff..and alot of OG transformers..you know the metal ones...sideswipe, prowl, bluestreak, jazz, sunstreaker, tracks...the list goes on for cheap...ahhhhhggggghh....if i only knew now...

rode for a bit...then when i got my license...i never saw it again...after a move or two...my dad threw it out...its now part of Mount Trashmore 2

83 Huffy pro thunder. Got it at venture in Decatur Illinois. Didnt even know there was a such a thing as a bike shops until a couple years later lol.

my first "real" bmx bike was a 2001 Gt Xgames bike and it was bought used off CL for and it cost $25 for that bike and a '98 pro compe.

There's a commercial for that Huffy Pro Thunder in the movie 'Stompin Stu' and it cracks me up every time I see it!

my frist was a 1977 spiral from a dept store it was a tank rode like crap ugly as sin but i loved it then i got a hand me down supergoose later then graduated to a shogun hot heart which came from the local shogun dealer which is long gone now then a few profiles a hutch another profile a few freeagents then the 90s hit and i rocked a first gen solution pro chromoly no cantis CUZ I HAD TO lol sponsorship requirements lol used that for a while jay

First real bmx bike was a $20 hand me down from a cousin in 91-92. It was chrome 80-83 GT with red z-rims and a red tuf-neck (chrome & red setup), i used to get made fun of for having red plastic rims

i dont remember much else, i just remember trying to spruce it up with parts at the time.. (clear purple ame's, a newer GT sprocket, and some chrome wheels from a friends dyno).

The next bike i got was a complete Auburn from my neighbor for a crisp Hundo.

He got it from Todd Corbit (he used to live on my street) I think it was just a complete built from their old crap lol. lots of gt stuff and i remember having a dk stem, some blue vg spurs and buying a bomber plate for it.

That got stolen about 2 years into it and our local jumps were demolished for a civil war reenactment (how lame right) so i started skateboarding.

at that time i wanted a green holmes..so im building one now.

i was 8 years old and will never forget my first bmx bike!these raindeer landed on my house and a fat guy dressed in red came down my chimney, and left this cool bike that was black pink and yellow and it had a sweet seat on it! it wasent a banana seat so i was really cool now and it had a #plate and frame fork decals with the pink panther head on it! i dont know the price but i do know that santa's hand writeing looks just like my dads! noticed that when i looked at x-mas tag!

1980/1981 cycle pro blitz w/ fishgill gusset and skyway tuff 1's. got it from DJ handlebars on reservoir avenue in cranston RI for xmas. man i loved that store.
