2001 Axxis Mutant

one of two frames created 201/4 top tube 4130 made by Mike Devitt and Salvador Carrera.

One of two frames created 20 1/4" top tube 4130 made by Mike Devitt and Salvador Carrera. Hope I spelt your name right Sal.  I think the other one was made for Gary Young back in the day. I believe the Mutant was made with a 20 1/2" or 20 3/4" top tube. These two were custom built and made in the USA. Well this one has been some places and seen some hard riding.  It has profile cranks, red neck stem, radix- bars, seat post, seat, Peregrine sealed 48's (perfect condition), primo wall tires and is solid as. The mutant frame was the lighter version of the HFO after Dirtmaster changed the name. Hats off to those guys. If you come across anything made by Mike, Salvador, or Gary you have a fine piece of BMX history. I don't know if I can say this but, those guys back in the day built a lot of bikes for a lot of companies. If some of your favorite 4130 frames from 2000 back said made in the USA, chances are they had something to do with it.. Ride on.!

Re: 2001 Axxis Mutant

They were made by alliant bicycles. Original makers of Se Racing and Dirtmaster. Mike Devitt From SE manufactured these before Gary Turner teamed up with him.  Its hard to say whats they are worth.. Made in San Marcos CA.  4130 Crome molly  Solid bike thats for sure.  like most mid to late 90's bikes they may be a bit heavy to todays standards.. How ever this mutant model was built a little lighter than the HFO.  I hope this helps you out a bit... US made most likely welded by Salvador Curara. Not sure if i spelt his late name right... Great bike... sorry it took so long to see this...

Re: 2001 Axxis Mutant

Good to know that the Mutant was lighter than the HFO. I thought it was simply renamed and that was it. I was born and raised in San Marcos, CA , so SE/Dirt Master/Alliant are all super favorites of mine! Sal is still in town building frames for many different companies! I went and bugged him a couple weeks back just to pick his brain 'bout the old Dirt Master stuff. Great guy! big_smile I love the way you have this Mutant set-up! Nice job!!cool
