Re: Mongoose Builds! Mongoose Questions! Post them here...
Does anyone have a 1981 or earlier Mongoose, with Tange TX-1200 forks? I think my forks may be bent forward, but I'm not sure. Maybe, someone can give me a comparative measurement to my photos below:
The measurement I have is 35 1/2" from the back edge, of the front dropout hole to the front edge, of the rear dropout slot. See Diagram:
Here is a measurement, of the rake, if you have a loose pair, of Tange TX-1200 Mongoose forks. The end of the steer tube is 7/8" high, with the forks laying, on a flat surface.

This is my first Goose and I hear these forks bend easily. I may need to straighten them, before coating the F/F. I hope someone can tell me, if they are bent and how much rake they should normally have. I've seen photos, of Mongooses, with the forks completely straight and some that are raked like mine, so I don't know who's is correct. Some, of the forks, may be bent forward and some could be bent backwards. I'm not really sure. What do you Goose experts think?
Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Wow! That's a ship load of Mongooses! Have you ever had to straighten any of those forks? I need to know, if they are straight in line, with the steer tube, or if they naturally have a little bit of rake. Maybe, you can measure a few of yours and tell me what the length is, from the front to rear dropout like the photo I posted earlier. If you have a loose pair, lay them flat and tell me what they measure, from the surface to the end, of the steer tube. Again, You can see how I measured, in my previous post. I want to get them as close as possible to where they need to be. You don't have to post a photo. I just need a measurement. Thanks.
