Here is an '84 Expert I just 'finished' putting together for my youngest son.
The seat is cracked but it's for a 10 year old so it will stay for now.
I will likely replace the pedals before he starts riding - they are the original Mongoose pedals and they are flawless.

That seat is dangerous. I would replace it. I would hate to think what could happen.

That actually really nice. I put that same decal kit on my 83. Looks nice. Post some more pics. I love 95 96 looptails.

I will once I get it completed. It had blue decals that were destroyed. I couldn't find blue so these red ones will do.  Looking for seat in better condition if anyone has one just like it.

motomag headtube has a crack on the top I guess when attempting to insert headset. Frame shows no sign of ever being built not sure what happened.
