1981 Huffy Pro Lightning

bought this frame and fork and had it stripped and rechomed. most of the parts are mid school. always wanted one when i was young, something about the oval shaped frame and fork. would have loved to restore it to era specs but i'm going to ride this one.
red line cranks
gt bars
gt piston neck
powerlite hubs
sun rims
dominator seat
one off seatclamp
rides like a dream.

Re: 1981 Huffy Pro Lightning

I'm in the process of restoring a chromoly Pro Lightning like yours, nice work BTW. I'm pretty certain there were 5 Pro Lighting models manufactured and only one model was actually chromoly which has Aero tubing throughout & no kickstand. Frame is 4lbs 7oz.

Re: 1981 Huffy Pro Lightning

I love this bike I had one that I saved all my paper route money to buy.  It was stolen with in 1 year at my own birthday party.  Boy it still makes me sad thinking about it.  Great build.

I had one it was a chrome with anodized blue wheels and brake handle, black handle bars with the black lite pads and a number plate. my mom worked for a company that worked along with huffy in the chicago area and she got one pro lightning and another bike for free, and so many others it was stolen back in 90'-91' why i dont know. love to get another one some day.

Re: 1981 Huffy Pro Lightning

I had one of these BITD and i must say they were far from cheap. I loved the F/F's tubing, even the seat post was tear drop shaped tubing. They were by no means cheap either, think the one i had was as much as any quality bike BITD. It cost about $300 if i'm not mistaking.

I rocked this frame and post in 84, & used to roll up in target every day & look@ a new one they had I thought it was called huffy 2000 had the dx or dx style levers first time I ever saw  the push action on the housing. I like one thats cool.

If I didn't freestyle yesterday, I wouldn't be freestyling today.
