1982 Nomura

Pristine Purple frame only.

Wade and Weldon Nomura made some really cool bikes. I hope to have one someday.

Re: 1982 Nomura

i recently saw what is supposed to be a nomura on ebay. i sent the guy a message stating that i didnt believe it was a nomura. his reply was that nomura made two different versions, an alloy one and a chromoly one. the version he is selling is supposed to be the chromoly version. i was not aware there are two versions.so the question would be is there really two versions? i have a nomura and i will try to submit some pictures soon.

Re: 1982 Nomura

The Nomura 26" that I built back in 1982 is polished aluminum. As far as know ALL the original 26" Cruisers were aluminum! Wade Nomura sold me the frame for $85 and I built the bike from scratch-using ONLY "state-of-the-art" (for 1982) parts.
I built it to race adult cruiser class, but never did race the bike! It hung in my garage until 1998-rarely even ridden-when I gave it to my son! He's got it in his garage now-still rarely even ridden-and it'd be for sale-for the right amount of cash!
The bike STILL looks hot...and still weighs less than 20 lbs! It'd win today...there's NEVER been a better race cruiser than a Nomura!

Re: 1982 Nomura

The only frames Nomura Racing ever built in chrome moly steel were 20"! ALL 26",24" & 26/24 frames were 6061 T-6 Aluminum!
The majority of Nomura's 20" frames were also aluminum. The chrome moly 20" frames were built for Nomura by CW Racing and
utilized "unique" drop outs in that the drop outs were "wrapped" by the chain stays & seat support tubes and resembled "2 exhaust pipes" outside the drop outs!
All Nomura frames have become "prized & highly collectible!"

Re: 1982 Nomura

Yes,
they did make very light frames.
the one I rode creaked when you cranked, and didnt feel stiff like a steel frame to me. I traded it for a Skyway TA and was much happier with the ride.
Guess I should have kept it now..
Nomura's are highly collectible now, and there are a fwe knock off's too.
I recall the seatpost was a problem area, and several have had that tube replaced now, with a slightly larger one.

Re: 1982 Nomura

Hey Bob. Good to hear from you. I did see #131 go for the big money. I knew it was the sister frame to this but couldn't cough up the cash, as much as I'd have liked too. I'd like to see your 26". I know Nic has been talking to Wade Nomura alot lately too.

Re: 1982 Nomura

I love Nomura's!!!! On top of the two 20" frames, I now have a 24" frame (serial Randy 001) which is one of two of the 6 built still known to exist. Wade has the other one and I have a 26/24. One of 5 still known to exist. I'll post pics later today. The only thing I need now is a 26" to have the whole lineup of frames made by Nomura. The 24" and 26/24" were never offered to the public. Only factory and support riders rode them.

Re: 1982 Nomura

Guys...

There were "approximately" 525 Nomura frames built-including
the 150 CW-built chrome moly steel 20" racers! I've been able to
document "only 36" of these frames existing today! There HAVE to
BE MORE than that left!
I'd like to establish a NOMURA OWNER'S REGISTRY-as part of
my research in conjunction with a WADE NOMURA biography that
I'll be writing later this year!
Any NOMURA owner that would like their frame/bike included in
my REGISTRY is welcome to Email me at:mathergolf@comcast.net
with their name,state of residence,frame size,material,color and
serial number! For security purposes,ONLY the owner's state of
residence will be recorded-NOT the city or town!
Please feel free to pass my Email address (and this message)
on to any people that you know "that are Nomura Owners!" I'd like
to eventually account for ALL 525 Nomuras...maybe with your help
I'll be able to!

Thanks for your co-operation in advance!

Re: 1982 Nomura

Here's an update on Nomura frames as of Feb. 2007:

There were a total of 525 frames built carrying the Nomura name:

     20" Aluminum                 311
     20" Steel                        150
     24" Aluminum                    6
     26" Aluminum                   58 (45 26" Race Cruisers
                                                  13 26/24" hybred Cruisers)

Of the total of 525 frames...only 53 have been confirmed as
still existing today! 1 frame has been confirmed as having been
scrapped, and 1 other has been "rescued from a junkyard!"

Confirmed to exist:   20" aluminum      15     (1 rescued)
                                   20" steel              18
                                   24" aluminum        3
                              26/24" aluminum        5
                                   26" aluminum       12    (1 scrapped)

Only 10% of Nomura's frames are CONFIRMED to exist today...there's GOTTA be MORE than this left!

Send your frame's serial # & size today...join the Nomura
Registry list today! Stand up & be counted!

Thanks,

BOMAT

Re: 1982 Nomura

I had (or may still have) one of the 20 inch cromo frames, either somewhere in my fathers attic or it is long gone. He swears up and down he did not throw it away tongue

It was given to me by Jason Jensen and was in Jason's words prototype... but I have no idea if that is true. I have never seen one other than that before seeing this pic today. I will post some more nomura sutf later

Seriously considering a torker/redline midlife crisis project ^_^
