2009 SE Racing Big Ripper 29
2009 SE Racing Big Ripper 29
Second last one available in the USA... yea sure.
My 2009 Big Ripper stock and not so stock pics. Bought it off of ebay as the second last one available in the USA. Maybe it is maybe it isn't, but it is cool and a blast to ride. It now has Velocity Chukker wheels, Schwalbe Fat Frank tires, Fly racing bars, Odyssey V.1 stem, Selle Italia saddle, White Industries cranks with a Surly Stainless steel chain ring and new Shimano DX pedals. SOLD... ![]()

Thanks dude.![]()
Mods are:
used Profile cruiser bars $40
used Odyssey Elementary V3 stem $45
Specialized cyclocross tires $40 each
700X28 tubes $4.00 each
Selle Italia seat $15 - new bike take off from LBS
White Industries Crank off of CL $40
Surly 33T chain ring $45
New Shimano DX pedals $50 - ebay
Shimano 68 x 108 cartridge BB $25
Euro bottom bracket conversion kit $30
silver tektro brake off of one of my other bikes
I didn't change the gearing because there are lots of hills around here and it is pretty much perfect. So far it's lost 3 lbs, down to 25 from 28. The Profile bars are heavy though, I could drop some more weight if I find a lighter bar and a Thomson seat post. It is noticeably faster with the cyclocross tires and lighter weight. I try to do everything on the cheap (happy wife-happy life) and so far it has only cost $378. Have fun with yours!![]()

You should get Hutchinson urban tour tires in 700 x 47 and that would definitely keep the rolling resistance down while keeping a nice beefy bmx style look.

Sweet Ripper , im running small block 8s on mine, different gearing and a bunch of mods but never really noticed a difference - just love the big BMX feel on the 29er -- Welcome to the CLUB

That's what I'm looking for! I did the math, a 47mm tire is 1.85 inches which is close the size I was looking for. It would be nice if Kenda came out with the Small block 8 in that size. Thanks!
