1985 GT Pro Performer
1985 GT Pro Performer
Early '85, Japan made.
This bike had a life of neglect it seems... The paint was scratched and cracked not as if it was ridden but as if it sat under a pile of crap in a shed for 15 some odd years. So with some fresh paint (thanks Lou) and a few new parts, this old bird back on top of pride rock.
'85 dated brakes and levers
tuff neck disc and OG cranks
OG seat clamp
GT-BMX seat

Re: 1985 GT Pro Performer
Nice bike, love the colors , but dont like them mags on an 85, black tuffs or OEs would fit perfect.. Are those the original brakes?

Re: 1985 GT Pro Performer
Yah, the mags are not ideal for me either but the only black tuffs I had were coaster brake Maybe I'll settle on tuffs. But a pair of black Hutch style OGKs would be my top pick i think!! (anybody??)
Originally it was a 4130 white performer, the brakeset, seat/clamp, and cranks are original to the bike, the rest was upgraded to pro performer status (mallet stem, post, bars, and some other custom bits. The padset just worked so well with the color scheme i had to use it even though i dont think many people ran them on their freestyle bikes.
Usually I'd prefer to keep survivors as such and not mess 'em up... but like I said there didnt seem to much history with this one, no soul to conserve, so my need for a yellow one overturned my like for survivors.

Re: 1985 GT Pro Performer
great rescue and restore, I thought the brakes looked more correct for a performer or mach1. if you do go swapping wheels around, try a set of skin wall tires too, I bet they would look pretty good on the ogk's...

Re: 1985 GT Pro Performer
totally dig this Performer and the black is a nice contrast on the yellow! Nice difference from the typical all yellow performer. ![]()
