Thanks!  I was kinda nervous about the color, I saw the whole build in my head but I wasnt sure how it would actually turn out.  Its coming along better than I could have hoped, I love the color but its a PIA to take photos of!  Should be finished and ready to ride soon, just a couple more small parts and Im set.  Still need a spin tech barrel adjuster though...

Re: Dyno Pro Compe ONLY

and it pops up as soon as I post...

Here is a whiplash from back then.

Some black and white on my pro compe...
http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv50/FreeEnterprise/P1010046.jpg

88 pro compe team model (see the cable hole in the downtube, no one actually used them, as they ended up kinking the cable, but the regular pro compes came with the spintech, but pro riders wanted the gyro, so the team model had those holes in the downtube in 88.  Those brakes were prototype 993's that Dia-compe gave me to test out back when I rode for them in the 80's. They never released them to the market for BMX... Sweet brakes, with tons of adjustments. And you can tell if a bike is a riders if they wear the paint off of their DX's from use...

And as promised, here is the "K" riding my pro compe team model at Woodward in 91, when I was teaching flatland at the camp.

Re: Dyno Pro Compe ONLY

Nice work there, Free, thanks for sharing those photos!

Its always nice to see riders from back in the day share their old photos and info about the scene and their personal stories.

Were you only Dia-Compe sponsored or did you have an links to Dyno/GT, etc?

Re: Dyno Pro Compe ONLY

Over the years I was sponsored by quite a few companies. Dia-Compe was my first sponsorship, and then Martin put in some words for me and got me a co-ride by GT/Dyno, in which they sent me some stuff free, and a discount on bikes and parts, as well as TONS of stickers, banners, and stuff. I never got any "full ride" sponsorships where you got a check, but I got lots of free product sponsorships, where they would send me stuff to wear when I rode. Oakley sent me a box of sunglasses for my team for a couple of years, which was pretty sweet. Also got stuff from Swatch, Vans, Hammer, Peregrine and when I was still looking for sponsors, I got picked up by Schwinn when they were going through their "yo" kick... That was "interesting"... Lol.

For a while I really worked at getting sponsorships, as I had a video I would send out to companies, and I had a good return rate on that. I'm sure I'm forgetting some companies too... Then in the early 90's when the scene was dying out, I quit messing with trying for sponsorships.

Today, I am using what I learned in my latest hobby, paintball... I started my own private field, and have been picked up by the two biggest paintball companies, Tippmann and Kee Action sports (Empire battle tested). Which is like being sponsored by GT and Haro at the same time! Ha! It is just a product sponsorship, but still the joy of getting a box of free loot on your doorstep is VERY cool!

Here is a video that I made for Tippmann from my play at a big scenario a few months ago. Out of the hundreds of players who attended, I was named the MVP for my team.

Re: Dyno Pro Compe ONLY

No, I parted it out a few years ago, went for around a grand. Timo is using the bars on his daily rider in Finland, the rest of it went all over the US. The cranks and techmatic bearings went across the ocean to Europe. I wasn't using it, so I would rather see someone do something with it... I have plenty of pics and video from it over the years. One of these days I will digitize all my old video footage from that era... I have stuff not many people have seen before (unless they were there) as we filmed a ton back in the day.

In a true time warp, here it was identical to how I rode it in 1991, all the way down to the RL edge tires.
