1986 Redline RL20a

1986 Redline RL20a

Totally original 86 Redline RL20a

I was born and raised in Australia of Greek parents. In 1986, when i was 14, i started to get into freestyle bmx. I saw the RL20a in a shop and had to have it. It was 420 Australian dollars, back then! I needed cash, so i took on a mega paper run. I was giving the money to mum to hold. I managed to save 200 odd bucks. One day, after school, mum came to pick me up, and there she was in the back seet of the Magna. Beauty! In 1989, we moved back to Greece as a family, with the Redline in tow. In 1991, i came back to Australia, on my own. I could not afford to bring the bike with me. Import stamp duties and transport were ridiculous. While i was in Australia, around the mid to late nineties, an uncle of mine who was just released from incarceration, broke and needing transport to get him around his tiny village, came to my mums house for a visit, and saw this duty old bike in the garage and he asked mum if he could borrow it? Mum obliged. He had it for a fair while. When my brother went to visit him at one stage, he noticed the Redline, neglected out the back, amongst the olive trees and chickens. Out of sentiment and respect for that bike, my brother asked if we could have it back, and my uncle was cool, he gave it back. My brother took it home and gave it some TLC. I rescently came back to Greece and there she was, in all her original glory. The only things that are not original are the tyres, the seat and the break lever, and i know if i have a sniff around, i will find the brake lever. The forks were originally chrome, but my bro painted red over them, which can easily be removed. Istill have the original receipt and owners manual, totally mint.

Re: 1986 Redline RL20a

Hey guys. Just out of curiosity, is anyone able to give me a value on this bike? This is my only bike and i am quite disconnected from the scene, so i have no idea what its value may be?

Cheers.
